[ some of us have morals and standards....some of you can’t understand that!! ]
Is sex immoral?..
Sex seems to me is like killing..
You can kill a turkey, a human, or a bug..
It seems to be in context.. the morality of it..
Heck you can even kill a human and it can be moral..
Someone breaks into your house, you shoot them in the eye..
And thats very moral.. if you didn’t do it, you deserve to be raped.. (or something)..
In the same way sex can be moral or not.. according to context..
Religion can be moral or immoral.. context again..
Anything above that level (e.g., Bishops) cannot be married.
Sauron
yup.
21 of the 22 Churches sui juris which comprise the Catholic Church ordain married men. All 21 of those Churches have a shortage of clergy.
"Who said to them: All men take not this word, but they to whom it is given. For there are eunuchs, who were born so from their mother's womb: and there are eunuchs, who were made so by men: and there are eunuchs, who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven. He that can take, let him take it." Matthew 19:11-12
"Then Peter answering, said to Him: Behold we have left all things, and have followed Thee: what therefore shall we have? And Jesus said to them: Amen, I say to you, that you, who have followed Me, in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit on the seat of His majesty, you also shall sit on twelve seats judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for My name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting. And many that are first, shall be last: and the last shall be first." Matthew 19:27-30"
"Then Peter said: Behold, we have left all things, and have followed Thee. Who said to them: Amen, I say to you, there is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, Who shall not receive much more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting." Luke 18:28-30
"But I would have you to be without solicitude. He that is without a wife, is solicitous for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please God. But he that is with a wife, is solicitous for the things of the world, how he may please his wife: and he is divided. And the unmarried woman and the virgin thinketh on the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she that is married thinketh on the things of the world, how she may please her husband. And this I speak for your profit: not to cast a snare upon you; but for that which is decent, and which may give you power to attend upon the Lord, without impediment." 1 Corinthians 7:32-35
"Forbidding to marry, to abstain from meats. He speaks of the Gnostics, the Marcionites, the Encratites, the Manicheans, and other ancient heretics, who absolutely condemned marriage and the use of all kind of meat; because they pretended that all flesh was from an evil principle. Whereas the Church of God, so far from condemning marriage holds it a holy sacrament and forbids it to none but such as by vow have chosen the better part: and prohibits not the use of any meats whatsoever in proper times and seasons, though she does not judge all kind of diet proper for days of fasting and penance." St. Jerome's commentary on 1 Timothy 4:3
Linguistic literalists like yourself never comprehend that in the battle of intellect you're all woefully under armed.
Probably just like you engaging in bestiality and necrophilia.
If they will have sex, have them marry. Else they become “Johns” in the “brothel” of casual sex partners.
1 Corinthians7:8-9 Now to the unmarried[a] and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do.But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
For all your concerns about “intellectual rigor” you might have made sure of the context of the chapter from which you lifted verses 32-35 to bolster your arguements. Priests that find themselves in the predicament of verses 8 and 9 ought to be allowed to marry without having to leave the prieshood. Reading the whole of Chapter 7 gives one the perspective that while Paul suggests that unmarried celebacy is the ideal in order for the Christian to maintain a wholly undivided service to Christ, he recognizes the reality that not all folks will be able to keep their passions in check. ( The married African Catholic Bishops and priests I have read about seem to have accepted that reality.)
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
Is it not better that Priests marry than to be judged by God as whoremongers and adulterers when they fall into sexual sin?
Ping. For your lists.
Do you doubt that the church covered for pedophile priests for decades in some cases?
Leading Catholic CINO: Let priests have sex,
True, but they cannot become a Bishop.
What happens when the Eastern Orthodox Churches joing back up under the Pope?
