Next time NASA sends astronauts to Mars in the 2030s they won't be eating freeze dried food or liquid meals. That's so last millenium. On their projected mission to Mars NASA astronauts will eat 100% vegan meals complete with fresh fruits and vegetables grown on the spaceship.
How is this possible? It's all thanks to the research being done by NASA's Advanced Food Technology (AFT) project. Since Mars has some gravity, the AFT researchers believe astronauts will be able to chop, cook vegetables and even grow their own plants using hydroponics.
The six to eight astronauts that will participate in the Mars mission will require enough food for three years. Mars is so far away that NASA won't be able to send food every six months like they do for the International Space Station. Neither will they be able to preserve meat or dairy for such a long period. according to senior research scientist Maya Cooper.

If we find that Obama’s margin of victory was the result of 100% of the Martian vote, we may someday have a constituency supporting a manned mission to Mars.
Boy oh boy.
Where do I sign up for this flight?
I didn’t claw may way to the top of the atmosphere to eat vegetables!
NEXT time!?? When has NASA RVER sent astronauts to Mars???
Vegetables are what food eats.
Things may get tense if the crops fail.
It looks like meat is back on the menu, boys!
Meat will be back on the menu. That obnoxious guy? He didn't get voted off the island, he got promoted to the oven.

Unless they are bottling the gas as rocket and/or cooking fuel.
Nice to know NASA is spending tax dollars funding a study developing a meal plan for a non-existant manned mission to Mars on a vehicle which does not exist, boosted into space on a rocket which does not exist. At this point, we lack our own manned vehicle system to boost a man into orbit much less send them to Mars. This is as foolish as picking out the upholstery for an interstellar FTL craft.
Problem solved.
You'll have to ask Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee (D-TX) about that.
They should send Moochelle and Paul McCartney up there to oversee the operation and to make sure the astronauts stick to the menu. That would get rid of two vegetables here on earth too!

You win——Post of the thread and exactly right.
NASA is busy making friends with Muslims, I don’t know how thwy find the time to work on a menu for a project that doesn’t exist.
If they act like most vegans ,Martians will have every right to destroy us.
