“Id say that preppers biggest mistake is in planning to live apart from the community instead of rolling up their sleeves and pitching in to maintain the community.”
I’d say the community will get me killed - due to No. 6.,
“Not Understanding that People will become a Threat During a SHTF Crisis.”
Being unprepared for the fact that people WILL become VERY desperate before YOU run into resource issues WILL get you and your loved ones dead.
This means you MUST have a physical, mental and spiritual plan in place - that you believe in - to handle desperate people, whether they are 7 mos, 7 years, 27 or 70 years old.
AND Never threaten. Only promise.
If the sign says “we hang food thieves and looters” then make it so.
People will quickly fall in line.
I intend to do what I've done in the past, and help folks out as I can.
I'm in a position to do that without much fear, but plenty of awareness.
May get me killed, eventually, anyway, but who wants to live forever? I'd much rather hit the Pearly Gates while in the midst of community service than some things I've done in life. ;)

Agreed. The problem with trying to maintain the community is that many voted for socialism, and thus would feel entitled to a prepper’s stuff.
Invest in a like-minded community. Those who also prep. A doctor who accepts cash. Other home schooling parents or private schooling parents who would home school with you if schools are shut down or unreasonable (like hailing Obama each morning). A religious community that will support you and aid you in down times. But not everyone in the vicinity is part of the obligation to be helped.
