Don’t have a recommendation for you, but remember you have to send them your acquisitions and dispositions records book if you let your license lapse, so you will show up on a list anyway.

I would do renew it if I were you - mine is set to expire in July .... this regime will pass, and this is still the law of the land as it applies to us peons ...

I've not purchased anything with it in several years nor have I done any restorations or refurbs since 2006. Aside from the "just to have it" aspect, does it make sense for me to keep renewing knowing that it could be used as a registry of doors on which to knock or am I already part of the machine having had one for the last 15 years anyway. I think you are already past being counted on a list of people to visit, if it ever comes to that.
I would say you renewing it does not expose you anymore.

Renew or not, you’re already on record as a danger to the regime, with an asterisk.

You guys are “our” canary in the mine.
“They” will come after you first, and that will be “our” cue to take the appropriate action.

I’ve kept mine renewed just because you never know when some goody pops up for sale. I’m already on multiple lists so I’m not worried about keeping me on another.

Big Sis already has your number anyway. You might as well keep it.

While renewing might not trip a flag (just SOP), NOT renewing might.
This administration will pass.

I renewed my C&R. I’ll eagerly show BATFE my collection of dusty old revolvers, and joyfully express my interest in them, and them only. They are not, IMHO, the type of firearms that will draw the most interest.
Now, those of you with Class III weapons might get a different knock on the door.
To: rarestia
Don’t take my word for it because I’m from NYC and wouldn’t know the implications, but don’t renew it. You’re already on a few government lists; renewing it won’t add you to another one, because odds are you’re already on a list specifically for that.

You were “on the list” the minute you got the FFL. Too late to escape notice now. Might as well step up and embrace your legal right to renew.
