The idea of Texas seceding from the Union is a long time joke, but a secession petition on WhiteHouse.gov has received enough signatures to be seriously reviewed by the White House.
This isn't quite the equivalent of the Declaration of Independence, but in the digital age, you could say it's similar.

Texas has already been a Republic, rocket scientist, unlike nuevo york.

Frankly, viewing the trends of the last two presidential elections, we may not win the electoral college again WITH Texas.... (sigh)

Nothing like a country song for the Texas National Anthem, who says it needs to be old timey stuff?
Of course we would have to acquire the rights from Little Texas. Whatever reasonable sum they want for the rights is fine with me.

Didn’t they try this once? It didn’t work out well if I recall—lots of folks dead. If a session move is to work—the Federal Government would need to lose all credibility and be seen as tyrannical—might happen. BUT its too soon. Then Texas and a number of other states would need a UDI Unilateral Declaration of Independence. Texas would be the magnet around a new nation—I suggest the CSA (Constitutional States of America). People would have to be willing to fight—and I don’t think many have the stomach for it—heck, they wouldn’t even get off their tails to vote for Mitt. Wait and see if Obama does something stupid first.
