Sir Paul McCartney has admitted that it wasnt that bad a thing for John Lennon to leave the Beatles and said that Yoko Ono did not break up group.
In an interview with Sir David Frost for Al Jazeera, Sir Paul, 70, said the departure of John Lennon from the band in 1969 was expected by the whole group.
Sir Paul also absolved Yoko Ono, Mr. Lennons then-wife of responsibility for the group breaking up. She certainly didnt break the group up, he said. The group was breaking up and I think she attracted John so much to another way of life that he then went on to, very successfully, add a sort of second part to his career, writing things like Imagine and Give Peace a Chance. I dont think he would have done that without Yoko.

Who was writing better popular music in the 1960s?
Wow, the left just lies with impunity. Lennon “left”? What a douche Paul is.
Marc David Chapman shot the wrong Beatle.
I would have to disagree.
Actually, they quit touring because of the cost and the mayhem and the fact, with the equipment then, no one could actually hear them live.
It was a simple business decision because, as Elvis showed, it was cheaper to make a movie and thus create music videos to promote albums. Touring back then wasn’t as big a deal as today.
Uh, won, uh too, uh tree...
Do you even know your Beatles chronology? It is all relatve. The two late '60's albums you citewere very good. But vs. say Sgt. Peppers, or Rubber Soul? Apparently you do not know much about the Beatles, or have strange tastes.
Abbey Road was recorded after Let it Be. I have always thought that Pepper was overrated and prefer the two albums I mentioned.
And Sgt. Pepper overrated? Why do most music afficandos quote SP when they state that a particular album was that artist's Sargent Pepper.
The work is considered a benchmark event in Music history. You are in a vast minority underscoring it's value and impact.
In terms of an individual or group releasing 3 consecutive GREAT albums, one would hard pressed to find a greater trilogy than
-Rubber Soul
-Revolver
-Sgt Pepper
Pepper is not all that highly regarded these days by Rock critics. It’s more of a symbolic triumph than a musical one.
