I’ve spent a few minutes looking into the Wood County Ohio issue. I have found some statistics of note, but I have a large unknown.

2011 Census Estimates show 126,355 people in Wood county

Of those, 23.3% are under 18. Subtracting those 26,913 persons under 18 means that there are 99,442 eligible voters in Wood County.

http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/39/39173.html

The current report at the Ohio Secretary of State shows that there were a total of 107,964 votes cast. Which is more than the amount of eligible voters by about 8%. That same link shows the turn out in Wood county at 57.7% http://www2.sos.state.oh.us/pls/enrpublic/f?p=212:52:0::NO:::

How can there be more votes cast than there can be registered voters and how can the people who voted be just more than half of the registered voters.

My unknown: Wood county is the home of Bowling Green University...Wonder if there is anyway to find out how many students at BG are registered to vote in Wood county who are not considered residents of Wood county. BGSU has 15,069 undergrad students.

**********

Nope that is total voters or registered voters and 57.7% cast votes for a total of 62,338 or 57.74%.
