On Fridays Special Report on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer said the resignation of CIA director David Petraeus was a regrettable situation that might ultimately help shed light on the deadly Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Libya.
We will unravel all the threads of this in time, Krauthammer said. Were just in the first few hours, but I think its worth noting what we do know. This is the end of a career of a truly great American. He did something that hadnt been done by a general since the Inchon landing in the Korean War, when MacArthur by a maneuver managed to save a war that was being lost and save South Korea.
No one had done anything like that until David Petraeus did that in 2007 and 2008 in Iraq, Krauthammer continued. That was a lost war. It was headed for chaos, civil war, bloodshed and unending trouble for us. And he pulled off a surge that rescued the war. What happened after in Iraq and what happened after in Korea are other stories, but that is undeniable. It is one of the great achievements, and he pulled it off. He distinguished himself in Afghanistan. And whatever happens and whatever we learn, this is a real tragedy.

A bunch of senators have been caught having affairs, none of them have resigned.
I'm not buying it. OK, maybe he was having an affair, but that's not why he's resigning. Doesn't make any sense.
Mystified.
Krauthammer still lives in a rational world. I have come to realize that reason and facts have nothing to do with what the Washington establishment does. They always do what is best for them, and to hell with facts or reason. They don't matter. It is all preception.
Soon, the Golden Goose that feeds all of those parasites will be dead... then it will get very interesting.
Obama has a convenient scapegoat; that’s the extent to which Benghazi will now be in the news on the ABC networks.
What? and....whatever ....
Sex sells. Why do you think the media latched on to Lewisnksy but ignored all the other (much worse) Clinton scandals?
I think I’m done listening to Krauthammer.
High ranking Military Offices... see the UCMJ... Petraus was one.
People with top secret security clearance subject to black mail. Petraus was that too.
He should resign. He let his little head think for his big head. That's not a good thing.
But I will agree, if the Dems and Obama thought he was on 'their team' he would have been golden.
The guy f'***** up big time. He needs to go. This ain't high school.
I give him credit that he didn't lie or try to make any lame excuses that we typically see. He screwed up, knew it, and admitted it. Now it's up to him and his wife.
I wish him well and thank him deeply for his service.
Military men have been doing this for years. Anyone remember the rumors about Kay Summersby and Eisenhower?
Did Ike then resign?
When he was in Afghanistan, he should have been more worried about killing the enemy than what some Pastor in Florida was doing with his right of Freedom of Speech.

Does anything here remind you of Obama’s campaign techniques of eliminating his opponents with sex scandals?
First the tapes, which resulted in Linda Tripp being savaged by the media.
Then the Blue Dress with the DNA which the media could no longer deny.
Step three was defending infidelity and the MSM seceded there. We got history lessons on everyone from Thomas Jefferson to Dwight Eisenhower. (They stopped there never mentioning Kennedy of Johnson)
Never underestimate the MSM smog machine. They can obscure and confuse any issue no matter how blatant... if they feel like it.
Now that it's happened Patraeus has a pretty good idea who ratted him out and he's bright enough to know he was compromised by a KGB agent.
That's usually pretty much the end of anybody's career. Can't do secret stuff after that, so he had to leave the CIA.
Now, why the dumpster job coming up on Petreaus ~ the field agent who has now been exposed has to strike soon ~ by herself, or through other imbeds she will ask her control officer to send out. If she doesn't there's a chance Petraeus will report her (Up the line to Obama who will advise Axelrod and she'll be terminated)
Ought to be pretty soon.
Anyone who wants to know about the Wheeler murder try a Google.com search for wheeler murder dumpster. lots of stuff there.
One does hope Petraeus confides in somebody outside the inner guard the names of every guy or gal he's had an affair with over the last 30 years. At least we'll have a list of names ~ hopefully in the low hundreds ~ of probable KGB imbed field agents. Kinda' wonder if he nailed that Chapman gal. She has been itching to go abroad again but they're holding her back. This'd be some coin of the realm.
The General has just become the fall man for all His Nothingness failed Lybia policy up to now. Yes sad to sad the Dear Leader voting idiots watching MSM News will believe it. Congress under Speaker Boneheads tenure will sit as usual sucking their thumbs till it all blows over.
That title is a sloppy mess.
How many years was he married without a hint of scandel? I have a suspicion that the woman supposedly involved is like those women who keep coming out of the woodwork every time the dems want to get rid of a potential enemy.
I'm much more inclined to think it was an earlier KGB inbed woman or guy who got to him back in the Army days, and was brought into play to dump him.
Broadwell, though, is already supposedly being investigated by the FBI for trying to use Petraeus' email system ~ which, of course, a KGB inbed probably would try to do.
Could be a particularly smarmy case, and if we can make a connection to Axelrod, this one could be a real laugh riot!
