Not being able to read and share thoughts during the three presidential debates was painful for me as a longtime FReeper. I really counted on being here with you all, and I did waste an hour for the first two debates attempting to connect. It was frustrating and sad.
We were not getting clear responses from Jim either on what was going on. Perhaps no one knew. But with pressure building over the last month, somehow we got them to discover the flaw and just in time.
If it were not for Free Republic last night -- and today and further -- I would fear there were very few Americans who still get it. Thanks to FR being up and running, I know there are many of us who feel as I do right now about this country.
I pledged last night that if FR ran all night, I'd donate $200 and since it did, I have. I had been holding off on donating because I believe that the vendor needs to show me customer service first before I reward him. I wasn't sure there was a sincere effort going into fixing the problems. Now that there is, this place is worth all of our contributions.
How lost would you feel today if you could not connect with good conservatives who feel as you do? Some here are even coming up with good plans for the future, giving us some hope. We need this place. Donate with me.

Spending all those times without it when it was down made me appreciate this place. We can’t take it for granted.
DITTOS on an excellent performance experience on FR!
Too bad we have nothing else to celebrate.
I appreciate the hard work TPTB put in to make sure everything ran smoothly last night.
Many thanks.
FR may have worked well last night, but it spent months undermining Romney earlier this year.
And now its gone into full cannibal mode, pointing fingers in a circle.
Strange place. Great for discussion and letting off steam, but probably a contributor to yesterday’s disaster.
Jim’s suggestions to make FR run faster worked to keep me current with two election night threads. I’ve bookmarked it for the future:

Shouldn’t be necessary for about 2-years...when the mid-term elections begin.
I know (the only thing we have to celebrate). But how much worse it would have been to be alone in the last 24 hours?
Thanks go to JR. I agree.
Really? You are saying FR contributed to Romney’s loss? That is crazy talk.
It wasn’t the suggestions to streamline the threads, CedarDave. Those were given a couple days earlier, and still there were down times thereafter. JimRob gave an update yesterday that something was finally done or changed that finally made it work. Non techie so I don’t remember what, but something was added. And it worked.
Woo hoo!! Thank you very much, Yaelle!!
Thank you! I’m so glad it worked. May it never happen again!
Ok, FReepers, who is with me? Is anyone going to join me? No need to tell us the amount, but add to this thread if you are donating today out of gratitude that we have somewhere to go (until they come after us).
I'm with you! Just join the Dollar-A-Day club and you're always helping! Woo Hoo!!! Lets Git-R-Done!
If you spend much time on this site, you know that there were many, many who vowed to sit this election out because they did not like Mitt Romney.
From the numbers we saw last night, Im thinking they did just that.
You have to recall, too, that this site was virulently, nastily anti-Romney earlier in the year, many long-time FReepers banned for supporting him. That damage was never undone.
I never have liked Romney, still dont, really. But I wish with all my heart that he had won. I did my part; not sure all FReepers did.
It is true that there were a lot of people here who swore they’d never vote for for Romney. But I assume if they were in battleground states that most of them did to fight Obama.
I liked Romney as a good person who lives as a conservative. And that he was better than a commie.
