Bag pipe? That’s what the old hag’s bong was called.

I loved the limerick, Mik, but I fear the day we will rid ourselves of this scourge will never arrive.
It’s very tough to win with the media against you and an undereducated public. Abortion has been settled law since Roe v. Wade, 4 decades ago. Contraception has been available even longer than that. Yet, the Obama campaign, fueled by the media, was able to make those things the issue, while skirting 8% unemployment, 16 trillion in national debt, no budgets, huge deficits, Solyndra, Fast & Furious, Benghazi, dumping on Israel and all the rest. If we can’t beat a fatally-flawed candidate like Obama, I have almost no hope for the future. A future which, by the way, will have Sonia Sotomayor as the swing vote on the Court.
It’s simple: we need a better electorate.
Unless we can counteract the media, we will always lose to the uninformed who vote based on myth.
Democrats lie about their actions and intentions and the media covers for them.
The path forward is twofold: infiltrate and transform the media in the long term. Us living in a conservative news bubble does nothing for the real “low information” voter.
In the short term, we need to have the GOP stand down. The people want Obama in charge we need to give them the consequences.
I know what you mean, Truthy It’s tough to see a way out of this in proximity to that debacle.
As far as removing the scourge, Obama will necessarily be out in four years, but we’ll have to make sure our representatives stay vigilant in resisting Socialism at every turn.
MYou nailed it with the “conservative news bubble.” I, for one, have certainly been guilty of hanging out on FreeRepublic and Twitter with like-minded souls. I have pretty much dumped all of my liberal acquaintances under the theory that anyone dumb enough to support Obama is too stupid to spend any time with. So, there is a lot of preaching to the choir, and we are surprised to learn, time and again, that a majority of the population does not share our viewpoint.
We hear oxymoronic statistics that depict the cognitive dissonance in the air. “54% of the population dislikes Obamacare.” But not enough to vote out Obama and get it repealed. “58% (or some such number) feel like the country is heading in the wrong direction.” Call me crazy, but wouldn’t a different president increase your chances of heading in the right direction? “more people are pro-life than pro-choice, and they oppose same-sex marriage.” Really?

Bagpipes seem particularly appropriate today.
Which is why people need to get the gov’t they voted for. They want Obamacare repealed yet re-elect him. They cab’t have both.
Bob Casey runs ads saying his grandpa was a coal miner and therefor he works for coal’s interest. No matter that Casey is a vote against any GOP attempt to rein in the EPA or Obama.
Can’t have it both ways.
The voters need more Obama, unfiltered.
The bright side is that Obama will own the fiscal cliff, new EPA regs, and all his Obamacare provisions that will kick in in his second term.
my FIL is on his deathbed; xshub had to leave yesterday afternoon to drive up. Between that and the election results, i am beyond depressed. I went to Mass at 8:30 am, figuring all we can do is cling even more bitterly to our guns and our religion.
God bless you and your family at this time...
So sorry for your troubles, both the family one and the one we are all feeling today. Stay strong.
Sorry to hear that. All will be right in the end.
thank you all. i know God is in control. the responsorial psalm this AM was God is our Light and our Salvation. the priest who was incredibly subdued, bc he’s African and normally pretty dramatic in his presentation, in his short homily said in light of the election to focus on that psalm. Father Frank Pavone tweeted that the Catholic church is now on a direct collision course with the gov’t and that we should be prepared for acts of civil disobedience.
how could we be so wrong? who were all the people at the polls voting til way past close of polls? was it all “takers”? is it truly the changing demographic that has doomed us? xsbaby was distraught this AM, crying all the way in to school. But she has to buck up because she has to do a paper on the election and what went wrong for her Honors Government class. I am going to need to help her find sources for that, so if you guys come across stuff let me know.
The mystery is how you get all that turnout when there are no signs of enthusiasm. Obama rallys down, yard sicns almost non-existent, etc.
They hate Republicans because that is how they’ve been conditioned, pure and simple.
When i came back from Mass, our Iranian contractor was here with his crew doing my fam room floor. when we started talking about the election, I literally dissolved into tears and he was hugging me to comfort me. He said this is the greatest country on earth, you don’t even KNOW how great it is bc you have not lived anywhere else, we will bounce back. I don’t know if i can believe that. Were things not BAD ENOUGH for people to catch on this time? i think you are right that people need to see the end game of what they voted for with Obama’s policies. Will the media stop shielding him from Benghazi now that he is in place for four more years. Will they continue to cheerlead this mess?
Thanks for Zero America.
:(
I am going to add from memory. A poem from an old ‘MAD’ paperback from the 1960s.
“Death to thee, my little fellow!
Fink and creep with stripe of yellow.
The guys you finked on have the urge
to sing and shout your funeral dirge.
In the bay, you should have went.
Neatly wrapped in wet cement.
Seeing you, it makes me sick to think.
That I was once a Yellow Fink!”
Jack.
there better not be any more BS about a more rightwing candidate having a better shot either. this proves that to be a ridiculous proposition.
