I'm a woman,and I can tell you that there's no way on the face of this earth I would run up that kind of bill and not leave SOME kind of tip. That being said, I base the tips I give on the quality of service I get.
Crappy service=crappy tip.
If the establishment's busy and the staff is light,I tend to feel bad for the server and tip accordingly.
I've done server work before;it's easy to slip up,make mistakes or have accidents when you're swamped from lunch through dinner and until closing on a weekend. If you don't take it out on the customer and do the best you can,you should get a good tip.Just my opinion.
Another thing..I don't like the policy some places have of pooling,then splitting tips among servers,or including a gratuity in the bill (unless it's a party of six or more). If you get crappy service,why should the server get a tip?
