Going to FR doesn't cause a problem, but trying to go to fineartamerica.com directly indicates it's a reported site. The odd part is following:

I got the same thing. I bypassed the warning and fineartamerica.com looks like a very benign site. Just artwork.

I saw the warning when I went to fineartamerica.com/. But I haven't come across it on FR, even when I fetched the first couple of pages of your posts.

If you google for site:fineartamerica.com, you get an absurd number of results, and the results exhibit a repetitive, spammy pattern. On the other hand, if you do the same search on Yandex, you get far fewer, but much more normal results. Yandex is generally much slower in updating their index than Google. So, perhaps fineartamerica recently got hacked?

Why do you use Chrome? I hate Google. I suggest Firefox which is non-profit and they don’t record your activities unlike google, for the sake of analytics

I just had an unintended quadruple post for no good reason and much of the time I get “page unavailable” recently when trying to reach comments.

So does Alan and his very good ESET antivirus may be preventing access.

Something is in the way but has not proved harmful. More of a nuisance.

Thanks for the heads up.

Zone Alarm flagged it. Said it was trying to set a program to start every time I started my computer. It got me. Scanning now.

I use ixquick for my search engine. They do not record your activities. Check it out.

“Why do you use Chrome? I hate Google. I suggest Firefox which is non-profit and they don’t record your activities unlike google, for the sake of analytics”

Pretty much all of the top software companies have politics that conflict with Freeper values. It’s best to separate your evaluation of their technology from their politics. Firefox and the closely tied Linux movement have done a lot to hurt for-profit software development. I use and like both, but I recognize the reality of the situation.

Chrome is a very good browser. If you don’t like the analytics approach, I recommend you check out SRWare Iron, which is a browser built on the open-source Chrome code base, with all the “phone home to Google” code removed.

Last night I tried to load a Free Republic page and it opened this page at a domain called justdied.com. It was a page that said that I had malware on my computer with a fake looking Windows-type box urging me to clean my computer.

I don’t remember what FR page I was trying to load because I’ve been clicking on FR links and then going off and doing other stuff while waiting for the pages to load when it is busy here.

One thread from 2010 and one profile page has a link. The thread comment has been removed and I sent a FReepmail to the poster asking them to remove the link from their profile page. Thanks.

You should do a search for a link to justdied.com, too. That is where I wound up from a FR page. I can give you the whole url if you need it, but I didn’t want to post it because someone might go there.

Thanks, did a search and did not find that link on FR, it sounds like one of those fake malware viruses.

I had to back up my old Vista puter with Firefox last night to a one week earlier restore point. FR seems to operate much better now. There is definitely a bug or two floating around.
