In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
bathetic \buh-THET-ik\, adjective
Displaying or characterized by insincere emotions: the bathetic emotionalism of soap operas.
Example sentences:
The bathetic quality of "instant cliche" endings is to some extent counterbalanced by the kind of ending which combines plot-contortion with climactic enlightenment
-- Heterocosms, Heterocosms
Attempts to capture the awe and pain of dying can often, alas, come out sounding either bathetic or satiric.
-- Nancy Kress, Characters, Emotion and Viewpoint
Etymology:
Based on the more common word pathetic, bathetic entered English in the 1830s. It comes from the Greek word bathos which meant "depth."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
I’m putting my final electoral vote total at 295 (OH, WI, NH, IA, CO).
After that would be 311 (MI), and then 331 (PA)
you’ve come a long way, eeyore ; )
We was losing for a while.
Or at the very least there was a good probablilty of loss.
A for you!
But have you bought any champagne yet?
A+ for the encouraging news.
A for you!
I was amused that Bloomburg specifically asked Obama to stay out of NYC. Good show.
Remember, when Bush had the good sense to fly over N.O. in the days after Katrina, rather than landing and stressing out the security forces, he was lambasted from here to Timbuktu.
The difference being, we are more like the Baptists, in that it is almost a franchise mentality, with each diocese having their own take on matters of the church. I’m in an orthodox one with an orthodox bishop and we don’t answer to any other hierarchy.
The CINOs would fit in better with the wacky Unitarians.
Sometimes after a walk in the woods a quick visual check will not suffice; it may also be necessary to shower or bathetic.
(phew..it was a strain even typing that pun!)
Don’t forget to check the creases for ticks! A for you.
The problem is that the Christians, for the most part, are not so energised to engage in politics.
Heartening article. Jerry Falwell used to call them/us the “silent majority”. Let’s hope and pray they speak up this time.
I’m Catholic and disappointed in many members of our clergy that they keep muddling the pro-life message with “social justice” and “pro-immigrant” messages. The Pope, himself, says that we should be pro LEGAL immigration, but somehow that caveat seems to be lost by the time it gets to the parish level.

Good read.
I, too, believe America will vomit B. Hussein Obama out of its body politic on November 6.... but I won't rest easy until that actually happens Read more: http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/11/obamas_loss_inevitable_for_years_comments.html#disqus_thread#ixzz2Az2Oh0iX
Speaking of apologies, Syracuse Universitys law school should issue one for having graduated Joe Biden. In the 2008 vice presidential debate, he condescendingly lectured Sarah Palin that Article I of the Constitution defines the executive branch. Actually, Article II does. In this years debate, he said that overturning Roe v. Wade would outlaw abortion. Actually, this would just restore abortion as a subject for states to regulate as they choose. Biden, whose legal education ended well before he was full to the brim, was nominated for his current high office because Democrats believe compassion should temper the severities of meritocracy. It is, however, remarkable, and evidence of voters dangerous frivolity regarding the vice presidency, that Bidens proximity to the presidency has not stirred more unease. To forestall that, Biden should heed Alexis de Tocqueville: To remain silent is the most useful service that a mediocre speaker can render to the public good.
you should send him this sermon, it directly addresses his arguments.
