Let me tell you something boys and girls:
Obama has given up. He knows it's over.
He made this decision in Florida when he decided to "come back to Washington to direct the Sandy relief effort."
Poppycock.
He knows he's going down, and he came back to DC to (a) spare himself the anguish of having his narcissistic supply on the campaign trail, and (b) to plot the course of his final 83 das in office.
Part of the latter is this: what kind of deal is he going to be able to make to get himself and his cronies off the hook for any number of bombs he's now got ticking under himself. These include all the ones we know about - Benghazi, F&F, the "green" companies - plus (I'm sure) many others.
How does he get the best deal for himself on these? Who among his inner circle does he include in the deal?
The "deal" includes many elements. Obama still has many cards to play between election night and 20-Jan-2013.
Obviously, he has the pardon pen. A biggie.
He also has all kinds of nasty things he can do with Presidential power. He can, for instance, bargain over what he does with the vast amount of classified information he has direct control over. He can reclassify much of this at his whim, on the basis of an Executive Order.
He can make things Top Secret that are currently Secret. And he can convert anything he wants to Unclassified as well.
He can - and, I'm betting, will - play hardball with this against the Republicans in the House and Senate who are coming after him on all kinds of issues.
Nasty, but one must expect nasty from this guy, who cares not a whit for the United States and never has.
Another thing to consider: Do we really want to "go after him" for everything, even after he's out of office?
Making kidnappers or rapists eligable for the death penalty simply increases the chance that they'll see no upside to letting their victims live once the criminal knows he has no chance for escape.
Same here. Do we benefit more - as a country - by letting Obama and his claque swim away, or do we continue to press for justice after they're gone?
I disagree because of the media and outlets like Nate Silver dems are very confident...they don’t fathom losing
If anything you have no choice as president to service yourself and be available for disasters. Its the human nature thing...anything that is percieved to be less gets met with Bush hurricane Katrina comparisons...because of Katrina no government official in charge will ever skimp on disaster relief or appearances...
How far reaching is his power to pardon—i.e. can he throw the prison doors to huge crowds of “his people” who have been convicted of rape and murder?
He’s probably helping Eric Holder man the SUPERSHREDDER 5000 in the basement of the DOJ.. Bzzzzzzt.. Bzzzzzzzzzt.. There goes another one, Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt..
Only at the federal level. He cannot pardon people found guilty of rape and murder in the state courts and in state prisons. Those prisoners can only be pardoned by state governors I believe
Thx.
No doubt President Jarrett told him the optics wouldn’t look good and ordered his skinny butt back to DC.
No. If he loses he will be replaced by Republicans. Republicans just love to ‘let bygones be bygones” and everything will just go silent.More likely he will use the 83 days to make his administration more memorable than you could now believe and give another big boost toward collapse on his way out. He has had no qualms so far about defying Congress and the Constitution and has written new laws and reinterpreted or refused to enforce existing laws. The Lame Duck daperiod should be a real doozy.
Of course any number of his flying monkeys are not going to see the obvious. Obama has literally thousands - maybe millions - of bitter-enders who will go over the cliff in droves, staring with tears in their eyes at his picture on a locket as they fall. Means nothing.
Benghazi was the breaking point. Obama knows what he did that evening. He knows what he said, he knows what orders he gave and what he did not authorize.
As John McCain said in his Face The Nation interview on Sunday: What did the President know, when did he know it, and what did he do about it? That's the key to what Obama and his close aides are looking at right now.
Rooster:
I have no idea. I guess it's uncharted legal territory.
He can't pardon murderers and rapists held in state prisons across the country, but he can pardon and release any number of individuals in federal custody at the stroke of a pen. He's supposed to get input from the Justice Department before he does this, but (a) he doesn't have to, and (b) the Justice Department is Eric Holder, so you can guess how much of an impediment that will be.
He's a narcissist, and he will want to keep his narcissistic supply going as long as he can.
Another poll could swing the other way and cancel the effects, but as of now Romney has crossed the line ans is leading.

+++++++++++++
Nate Silver is currently including polls from Rand Corp. and Google in his “analysis” of the election. A totally phony, help Obama to win effort.
Obama, on the other hand, is looking at the same data that Romney is seeing. Both campaigns do their own polliing and that polling has to be as accurate as possible. No politics in these polls.
Obama knows he’s losing. The only question is: Does he know he’s lost?
BTW, I agree that Benghazi was the breaking point for Obama. He's deeply worried about it--beyond just reelection.
BTW, if the polls point to a win for Romney by Monday, I'm buy champagne for Tuesday night.;-)
“How far reaching is his power to pardoni.e. can he throw the prison doors to huge crowds of his people who have been convicted of rape and murder?”
If he loses big time with the electoral vote and EC vote, he will need a Krey super computer to keep track of all the pardons he will issue.
Then he will need another one to keep track of all the Executive Orders issued to harm this country and serve as fiscal time bombs for President Romney.
I agree it was political, but not because he has lost, and giving up to go home. It is because he is losing, and the campaign events are not making any difference at this point. Flying back ‘looked’ Presidential, and now that he is ‘in command’ his campaign hopes he can use this to change the trajectory of the campaign. Without a significant change, he is going to lose.
The only thing that really matters is if it is proven he was ineligible. If that is so, all bills signed by him and all treaties signed by him become invalid.
Pretty good payoff if it can be done.
If Obozo loses big time, after he pardons all of his fellow criminals/traitors he could/might resign .
1. If he resigns, that makes Biden President.
2. Then, Biden will pardon Obozo and his cabinet members of all crimes/misdeeds like Ford pardoned Nixon:
This might be the best outcome and one more reason to defeat the traitor with massive %’s next Tuesday.

He has a glass jaw. He's a mamma's boy with the brittlist of glass jaws.
He made it as far as he did because he surrounded himself with white guilt and black rage from Chicago, one of the most corrupt political cesspools in the country. I also suspect a fair amount of pharmaceutical help was on hand when he needed it as well, but the efficacy of that decreases as one ages. Obama is not so young any more.
He really doesn't care about being President that much. He likes the perks, mainly. The work is way too much for him, both in terms of the difficulty and intractability of the problems he encounters every day, and in terms of the sheer volume of stuff that comes at him. He doesn't know beans about how to organize that kind of task, never has. He sluffs it all off to his staff of sycophants, and goes to his behind-the-scenes controllers for the big stuff.
What about Hillary? Who knows what kind of pressure she's putting on him? Has Hillary given up too? Maybe, maybe not.
Hillary is sure to be unhappy about how the Benghazi aftermath is shaping up. It's clear that Obama is going to hang the whole stink-necklace on her if he can. The military is furious with both of them, as is the intelligence community. These people are not to be trifled with. Obama may not realize that (he may be just too stupid) but Hillary certainly does.
No, he just figures he will get a boost in approval by “looking Presodential”. That will do more for him than a few more campaign stops. He just finished a “me, me, me,” press conference taking credit for what others are doing. As someone on FOX said yesterday, the president doesn’t really do much in this kind of disaster except release money, and Obama is an expert at releasing money. As for Benghazi, nobody in the media except FOX is reporting it anyway.
Got that right. These are golden taxpayer-funded campaigning opportunities to show himself in a leadership role. He's going to milk this for all it's worth.
Benghazi is so big, so gigantic in its implications, that it hasn't begun to even be news.
Benghazi affects the attitude toward duty of every single member of the Armed Forces and the diplomatic corps.
Benghazi affects the attitude and loyalties of every single intelligence source we have, everywhere in the world. People who face horrible deaths every day, and who are trusting the United States government with their lives and those of their families.
Benghazi is a turning point.
Do you think Benghazi is the end? Do you think Al Qaeda is going to stop now? No way.
There are going to be more Benghazis in more countries. Probably soon, maybe before election day. Obama is not going to be able to run and hide again. The Democrat Party brand is in jeopardy, or should be.
