Your prayers are humbly requested for one of our long-time FReepers, Salamander and her new puppy Halla.
Halla is six weeks old and by rights should still be with her mother. Salamander had to take her and rescue her from an incompetent breeder who had let her get worms along with some serious other problems.
The pup was not eating, shaking and may have some neurological damage. The vets have confirmed a cranial injury, but do not yet know how severe.
A moment out of your busy day (or night) to offer up a word to The Lord for both Sal and Halla would be appreciated. Thanks so very much!
Thank G-d! Huge sigh of relief!
Prayers for your precious baby.
If you love a pup, it will come to you from the very jaws of death. They live to love and be loved.
Much love and prayers for the baby
I wish I could help with more than prayers for her continued success. I so admire you and your hubby for your dedication and love for this little one!
Prayers.
Prayers for little Halla.. Stay safe!
Thanks for the updates. I can’t wait to view the video when you get a chance (and try to get as much sleep as possible)!
Just checkin’...
That’s wonderful news!
Still Halla & all the ‘Mander family in my thoughts. Felt kinda bad I couldn’t afford to do more.
Heartbreaking how callous the breeders are, tho she’s lucky to have tumbled into your hands, Salamander.
What great news to have this early morning! Continued prayers for your beloved pup and its family.
SO glad she’s better.
Even our guy at 8 weeks preferred the puppy chow soaked. We set out the dry (Purina w/chicken shreds, which he loves) as a choice and provided about 1/3 c soaked 3x/day. By exactly 9 weeks, he ignored the slop and went for the dry. I can hear the crunch!
They grow so fast at this age, I add in 1 jar of baby meat/broth per day, straight from the jar. He like dehydrated apple slices or dehydrated liver w/garlic powder as treats and the occasional puppy milk bone. I keep a large supply of the thin rawhides around for chewies and disappear them when they get frayed enough to be a potential problem. Of course, he’d rather chew driveway gravel, firewood, furniture and records boxes!
My first pup below 5 months old. It is an experience! Right now, he’s sleeping in after going out for a quick potty, so he’s an angel. ;)
Great to hear, Salamander. Continued prayers from the Left Coast.
If you could find an old fashioned alarm clock and place it under her blanket it might help. Also try a hot water bottle. The gentle warmth and the ticking (heartbeat) simulate the presence of her mother and may help with separation anxiety.
Regards,
GtG
I found a Homedics ‘sleep sounds’ thing at WalMart that has ‘heartbeat’ for babies.
It’s tucked under her blanket and she’s fast asleep...:)
She didn’t want the hot water bottle, for some reason.
Scrunched as far away from it as she could.
I hope whoever sent the 20 dollar bill anonymously reads this....thank you, whoever you are!
Well, she *did* just bite the bejeebers out of both as we were trying to get her Clindamycin antibiotic down her gullet.
[feisty!]
I hope that means she has a fighting spirit will to live.
[sharp little teeth, nasty little temper!]
But is she is much cuddlier..when I’m not making her do something she doesn’t want to do.
:)
I knew it, I knew it! Murderous intent! Those dobermans are inherently bloodthirsty dogs!
She’ll kill you 666 times on Halloween night for good measure (hopefully you’ll get better).
Seriously, keep us updated! I’ll keep praying for her recovery and for strength and wisdom for you and Mr. Salamander as you tend to her needs.
Well, yeah! I admit that! Not sure about Sal... :)
Hey now! This is GREAT news!!!
