When the subject of politics inevitably came up, they all sat and quietly listened to me expound upon my conservative views, without interruption. In times past, they would have all ganged up on me, and shouted me down, but something had dramatically changed with them.

windflier, your posts are always interesting! Next time you should pass out Sowell's books!! I have many of his books -- we are blessed to have his genius in writing.

It's a worthy idea, and I will give it due consideration, but I've done my level best to turn my family members on to columns and books by black conservative thinkers, and haven't gotten any bites.

Blacks (on average) can be very orthodox in what they perceive to be group agreements, and thus, can be very resistant to even inspecting the thoughts and ideas of known outsiders and rebels.

It's why they don't listen to me, despite the fact that they admire and value my opinions in other areas. When it comes to politics, they just chalk my positions up to some sort of weird eccentricity.
