Imagine this: You're having a pleasant afternoon with your buddies, playing the links at San Juan Hills Golf Club.

You arrive at the 12th tee box at the San Juan Capistrano course and there you see it: A shark, very much alive and thrashing around on the grass.

OK, so it was only a 2-foot-long shark, but still.

"Shark falling from the sky, kind of odd," said Melissa McCormack, director of club operations at San Juan Hills.

The fish was actually found about 4 p.m. Monday by a golf course employee, who picked it up, put it into the back of his golf cart and drove it to the clubhouse, she said. A group of golfers had just left the tee before the shark was spotted.

Imagine this: You’re having a pleasant afternoon with your buddies, playing the links at San Juan Hills Golf Club.

You arrive at the 12th tee box at the San Juan Capistrano course and there you see it: A shark, very much alive and thrashing around on the grass.

OK, so it was only a 2-foot-long shark, but still.

“Shark falling from the sky, kind of odd,” said Melissa McCormack, director of club operations at San Juan Hills.

The fish was actually found about 4 p.m. Monday by a golf course employee, who picked it up, put it into the back of his golf cart and drove it to the clubhouse, she said. A group of golfers had just left the tee before the shark was spotted.

The shark had two puncture wounds, which made McCormack think a predatory bird had scooped the fish up out of the water, dropping the shark down onto the course. She first relayed the story to the Capistrano Dispatch.

“It was just wriggling around. He needed to get to the ocean right away,” McCormack said, adding that it appeared to be a leopard shark.

After a quick dip in fresh water – since McCormack and the employee weren’t sure if the small shark could survive if placed in a tank of fresh water – the animal was quickly driven out to the nearby ocean.

Still alive, the shark was dropped back into the sea near Dana Point, where it undoubtedly went on to finish its round with an eagle or two. Or maybe just a birdie.

Exactly why I never play golf without a foursome.

You never know what shark they’ll pair you up with.

Maybe it came from the same place the one did that ended up inside a college dorm heater. Odd It made it all the way to West Virgina.

So they dropped it back into the ocean at Dana Point.

I'd call around to all the local law firms to see if a partner is missing...

A shark on a golf course? That’s totally believable. What’s not believable is the people of America TWICE being fooled by a Marxist Kenyan. That defies logic.

Sounds like a butter-taloned osprey dropped his lunch.

I've been bombed by an osprey's baitfish before ... wish it had been something big enough to be worth eating.

Ten years later in 2022, a mature Leopard Shark dressed in an overcoat and hat was seen dropping an envelope on the doorstep of the golf course greens keeper before flapping away across the ground in its fins toward the ocean.

The envelope contained ten golden doubloons suspected to be from the wreckage of an as-yet undiscovered Spanish galleon ‘Santo Domingo’, the location of which has eluded treasure seekers for 400 years, along with a note written on dried kelp with octopus ink which read simply “tank u. sined leperd shark”

I have no knowledge of the source of the very common comment, but were lasers strapped to it’s head?

Please tell me that an episode such as this qualifies as a loose impediment under USGA rules.
