Our White House has been residence to Unitarians, at least one likely Deist, and multiple Freemasons. Is Romney’s Mormonism really any weirder?

Saundra Duffy is a wonderful example of MORMON apologetics on FR. She is deceived by the claims of MORMONism; she is not an admitted liar. Saundra Duffy is a servant of the men in offices high above Salt Lake City.

Would they pose a threat to a Mormon president?

        I trusted Mormons - a LOT!!!

Approximately three weeks after Hughes' death, a handwritten will was found on the desk of an official of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City. The so-called "Mormon Will" gave US$1.56 billion to various charitable organizations (including US$625 million to the Howard Hughes Medical Institute); nearly US$470 million to the upper management in Hughes' companies and to his aides; US$156 million to first cousin William Lummis; and US$156 million split equally between his two ex-wives Ella Rice and Jean Peters.

A further US$156 million was endowed to a gas-station owner named Melvin Dummar. Dummar told reporters that late one evening in December 1967, he found a disheveled and dirty man lying along U.S. Highway 95, 150 miles (240 km) north of Las Vegas. The man asked for a ride to Las Vegas. Dropping him off at the Sands Hotel, Dummar said the man told him he was Hughes. Dummar then claimed that days after Hughes's death, a "mysterious man" appeared at his gas station, leaving an envelope containing the will on his desk. Unsure if the will was genuine, and unsure of what to do, Dummar left the will at the LDS Church office. In a trial lasting seven months, the Mormon Will was eventually rejected by the Nevada court in June 1978 as a forgery. The court declared that Hughes had died intestate.

Making the point that the anti Mormons on this site will have to understand that Billy Graham - a stellar Christian if there ever was one - does not agree with them.

Oh?

Prove it.

Meanwhile...

...the Mormons on this site will have to understand that the BIBLE does not 'agree' with MORMONism; and there are quite a few people that are quite capable of displaying the EVIDENCE to that fact.

Billy Graham’s organization removed Mormons from their list of cults.

When will YOUR chosen 'organization' remove all of the HATEFUL things IT has said about CHRISTIANITY and it's teachings from the record?

I hope you will not have one disrespectful thing to say about the Reverend Billy Graham.

Hey Sandy!

Is your MORMON buddy - Old Mountain Man - gonna be re-instated on FR as well?

Mormonism is a religion. In this country we celebrate (or used to) religious freedom. In my (non-Mormon) view, faith is not something (if it is true faith) that one can pick or choose. If you are a person of faith you know this. Why does anyone believe what they believe? For me it is a combination of searching, investigation, deep, inexplicable feelings, experience and other elements I find hard to explain. (For Christians, we believe that “By faith are you saved through Christ, and that of yourselves, it is the gift of God.”)

This country has treated religious faith as an immutable characteristic of men and women (like hair or skin color), not merely some way of life chosen by individuals. One cannot be blamed, and ought not be rewarded, for one’s faith.

Actions are another thing. We are accountable for what we do, but not who we are.

I will vote for Romney, neither because of nor despite what his religious faith is. I will vote for him because he is more conservative that Obama, and because he has the skill of leadership, which Obama never had.

I beg your pardon. Let me rephrase.

“A logical person cannot hold Mormons uniquely responsible for doctrinal error in racial matters when similar doctrines were very nearly unanimously held by “Christian” churches for most of the 19th and 20th centuries.”

That’s better.

BTW, just about all denominations believe or have believed in the past that their particular denomination was alone in preserving or restoring the truth of the Gospel. Otherwise, why did they feel the need to break away into a separate denomination?

The gruesome be headings of some 40 Ute corpses in 1850, heads stacked in boxes, and hung by their long hair from the eves of buildings at Fort Utah, has long been ignored, “You didn’t see the Indians beheading the Mormons.”

I said I wouldn't cut off somebody's head if he slapped me. Considering the back-and-forth between settlers and Indians, if it was a case of dealing with people who had massacred family and friends, perhaps I WOULD put their heads on display.

This stuff wasn't limited to the Mormons. And it went back all the way to the early settlements. Putting heads on display was a tradition of Western people going back thousands of years.

Seriously, you're grasping at straws here.

Ma'am; it's not that we HATE christianity; it's just that it is WRONG!!!

You describe the attitude of Protestants towards Catholics, Catholics towards Protestants, Jews towards all flavors of Christians, and each of the various sects of Protestants towards each other. Plus Christians versus Buddhists, Taoists, etc.

So? Does that mean that we can't get along?

I agree. While Romney was not my first choice (or my second) back in primary season, he has not given me reason to doubt that he's an honest man who wishes a secure and prosperous United States. At this stage, that's all I care about.

I don't care about his theological views, as long as they don't involve enslaving or killing anybody who disagrees with his theology.

What a load of nonsense, everything is a religion, Satanism, the child molesting ‘Children of God’ cult, Mormonism, all are “religions”, this country doesn’t respect all religion and never has, the first federal law was passed against the Mormon cult within 30 years of it’s appearance.

Bishop Romney was not merely born into Mormonism he is a powerful leader within it as was his father and his family, who are Mormon royalty, they immigrated to America solely to serve Mormonism, 170 years ago.

Mitt is thought to be the fulfillment of Mormon Prophecy, the “White Horse Prophecy”, and Mitt first sought and received permission from his holy Prophet before he would even start his presidential run, and Mormonism is spending millions and increasing it’s recruiters by 8,000 to maximize this push into the American mainstream.

How do you think that Mitt earned his reputation as the most dishonest man ever to be nominated by the GOP? The man is a pathological liar, your claim is ridiculous.
