Pacu - a Central American fish in the same family as the piranha, though far more interested in vegetable matter than “meat”...

Pacu are very sensitive to water temperature. There is no way this fish has been in the water there more than a few months - water temperatures below 60 degrees will weaken them - eventually causing death. Temps below 50degrees are lethal fairly quickly.

Most assuredly, this fish came out of an aquarium. Probably outgrew its tank.
