A blogger who spent one year following all of the Bible’s instructions for women, from making her own clothes to 'submitting' to her husband, has now written a book about her experience.

Rachel Held Evans’ book, A Year of Biblical Womanhood, chronicles her 12 month attempt to obey the Bible's commandments for women.

The Bible gives hundreds of rules for women to follow, both explicit and implied, in the Old Testament and the New.

Ah ha! lol So, I was doing it right way back when! That’s how I used to do it. Trial and error. But I thought it was wrong cause I thought there must be an easier way that I hadn’t learned in HS. My mother used to make it look so it easy that it was discouraging. lol

i would dare say the 10 comandments are still in effect. just because Jesus summarized them to 2 - love the Lord God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself - it didn’t replace them.

summaries are not replacements.

Oh, shes so clever and sassy. How did she ever know that the homo media would spit all over themselves if she came up with the unique idea of trashing the Bible and saying vagina?

She gonna be on tee vee? American idol in her little Christian vagina tent out back because we all know Christians are doing that all the time? Oh! Oh! She says vagina! That’s new for the homo crowd! That’s so shocking and fabulous! Christians everywhere are going to “change” into sassy little tent beans now! She showed us! Wait a minute! I think this is a tired old rerun!

One can arrive at sexual morality via the school of hard knocks or just listen to what generations before them learned the hard way. They don’t even have to open the Bible to see that there is no society on earth that is organizing itself around homos because it is not a winning human survival strategy on a micro or macro level.

Homos can do their thing in America like everyone else. We are not going to put their butt pleasure at the center of our education, families, socialization, worship, and lives. How shocking is this?

The laws regarding being ritually clean and unclean are not really applicable to people not going to the Temple.

As far as a list of changes and revisions refer to the letters to the Corinthians.

They just didn’t want her around because she was unclean.

But they still had a break from their duties. An added thought is the arrangement would have helped create mentor relationships with the women. Both older and younger women would be meeting each other regularly each month. This would provide an environment for women to have a regular ongoing relationship with other women.

This requirement that at first brush seems like a negative for women might actually have been a positive for them when it is fully applied.

It is not unlike the procedure for handling an out of control child, namely stoning by the full community. At first brush it seems terrible but when looked at in application it has many benefits. The parents are required to agree to bring the child to the priest. In almost all cases of children out of control, the cause is that the parents do not provide an even hand. Further, the entire town has to participate in the stoning. If I were a member of that town I would surely take an interest in kids that were not behaving. I would never want to be called on to administer the punishment. Finally, the children themselves are given a pretty strong incentive to behave and listen to their parents.

what it should prove is how much more reasonable our fundamentalists are, given they don’t actually live this way. Juxtapose this to the way the kooky Islamic fundamentalists interpret how women in their culture should live.

What life lessons can we encounter that could make one believe that a man came back from the dead?

How do you know they had a break? I would guess that they just ended uo doing other chores that kept them away from the house, probably digging in the garden or cleaning out stalls.

What life lessons can we encounter that could make one believe that a man came back from the dead?

I suppose if you hung around emergency rooms, you might know. Newsweek had an article last week about a neurosurgeon who was brain dead for a week then came out of his coma and related an amazing tale of what he experienced while "dead".

In my own life, I knew a man in his late 80s whose body seemed to be shutting down and doctors decided there was nothing they could do for him but send him home to die. They took him off all his meds other than his pain meds and you have never met a man so eager for death to come because he longed to be reunited with his deceased wife.

But something happened to Charlie West. He got better. He got so well that he got dressed and went to Sunday church services where his friends who had earlier come to say their good-byes looked on in amazement.

But Charlie was not happy about this development. He thought God was punishing him by not calling him home to be with his wife! It took another six months for Charlie's health to again deteriorate until he passed away at age 89.

While it is not a story of someone coming back from the dead, it is a testimony of someone who *wanted* to die and whom the doctors had given up on miraculously received a period of "good health" against his own wishes, proving to me that God alone chooses when we die (even those who die by their own hand or die in tragic accidents) and that He has authority over life and death.

Anything they touched would be unclean including animals and plants.

She’s kind of cute. I could handle someone like that submitting to me 25 days a month.

They could certainly dig, till or clean out stalls. I don’t believe they just had a few days off every month. Too many chores to be done.

http://yahshammahlove.sabbatarian.com/content/Niddah.html

In ancient times a niddah was completely segregated, particularly in Erez Israel where the laws of purity were still in vogue from the time when the Temple existed. Excluded from her home, the niddah stayed in a special house known as “a house for uncleanness” (Nid. 7:4), she was called galmudah (”segregated,” RH 26a), and was not allowed to adorn herself until R. Akiva permitted her to do so, that she might not be repulsive to her husband (Sifra, ;ora, 9:12). No food was eaten with a niddah (Tosef., Shab. 1:14) nor did she attend to her household duties, until the stage was reached in which “during all the days of her menstruation she is to be segregated” (ARN A 1, 4).
