At 54mpg, this is what all Peterbilts and Mack trucks will look like in 2025.

I want one. I can put some davits on the back of my Suburban and use the Tata as a land dinghy.

Green politics, gas prices, and all else aside, I absolutely cringe to think how one of those things will fare in an accident. It looks the whole car is a crumple zone.

On the plus side, the firefighters won’t need to the Jaws of Life for it, just a good can opener and pair of scissors.

They could sell them thru the Chinese Chery dealerships and call them Chery Tatas.

(Frankly, anything that looks like a Chery or a Tata better get at least 80mpg)

Chery

For the curious:
• 37 HP 2 cylinder engine
• rear engine, rear wheel drive
• 4 speed manual transmission
• 55.5 mpg
• 5.3 ft3 trunk, only accessible from inside
• no airbags
• no power steering, air conditioning, radio or CD in base model
• three lugnuts per wheel
• only one side mirror
• has all the graceful styling and passenger dignity of a Segway with tassels
• is notorious for doing this:

Oh, why the h3ll not. Around here, they walk around in packs. At least with these things, the rest of us might get a laugh at seeing a clown car in real life. (Of course a better idea would be to stop importing Indians & never import these little death traps. BTW, Indians canNOT weld wrought iron & could not properly thread a screw-in if their lives depended on it)

This car is much too small to sell successfully in this country. Americans like large Tata’s

It's much more likely you'll get a version of the "Euro Nano", which has a 3-cylinder, a longer wheelbase, AC, and other improvements. The 2-cyl is pretty much an India-only machine. Here's the Euro version:
