This is going to be the best season yet.
Breaking INTO a prison...with zombie prisoners...with prison guard zombies in riot gear...with living prisoners...with a sword-expert dragging two jawless/armless zombies around on a chain as pets...with a possible zombie stillborn baby...with a psycho-governor challenging the prison...with a crashed helicoptor.
And Merle.
The reports I find hard to discount are the ones from Air Force pilots and commercial pilots in the air and law enforcement officers on the ground.
However, if some of these accounts are true, why haven't the aliens contacted us in some way when they are right there in our air space? If they are smart enough to get here, they are surely smart enough to let us know they are here.
YOu can buy episodes of the Walking Dead, including season 3, on Amazon.com Video on demand.
Why not just draw them all to the fence line, and kill them all safely from the other side of the fence? Sure, it would take longer, but at zero risk. Going inside the fence and mixing it up hand-to-hand was just dumb.
I noticed Herschel firing away with his pump shotgun in the last show in season 2, he must have fired over 20 rounds without reloading, they cut away from him and you could still hear him firing. That is one hella-shotgun he has!
Sounds like you owe her dinner and a night out.
[ Going hand-to-hand against these prison zombies sounds like a really bad idea.
Theyre trying to save on ammo, but if they get a scratch from a zombie, theyre done. Too big a risk. ]
I was screaming at the TV last night they should have kept slowly luring the zombied to the chain link fence where they could use the sharp pipes to “core the zombie brains”, and even if it took them a few days to clear the prison yard, they could have done so a LOT more safely, as for clearing buildings, open the doors, into a secured chain linked in area and let it set for a day or so for the zombies to come out...
They needed to be more methodical... and less impulsive...
Not only a scratch, but one of the disappointing aspects of the show is how when they go hand-to-hand, they dont do anything to protect themselves from blood/brain splatter. Any infected zombie DNA gets in your mouth or a cut, youre dead. In the first few episodes it showed them wearing protective clothing and a face mask. Guess it was too much money or it hid the actors faces too much.
They are already infected, I think if they get a life dangering injury they become undead...
Merle could be a dream sequence thrown in there to divert your attention in imaginative ways. When Breaking Bad did promo’s they made you think something was going to happen in a certain way and then fooled you. I kind of liked it that way.
Jim was bit in Season 1 and died of "the fever" associated with the infection. The wound itself was not life threatening.
They need to find that huge herd and then do some kind of a Buffalo Jump with it just like the Native's used to do in North America to the herds of Buffalo.
My thought too.
Besides that, I was a bit put off with last season’s finale where the good guys are running and driving around frantically making perfect head shots every round with their 100-round-magazine pistols. Anyone familiar with pistol shooting knows that degree of accuracy would be impossible to do for all except the very few trick shot artists.
I would have stayed behind the fence and hit them from there as you suggest. They showed that method but didn't stick with it. If they had continued with that, you would have gotten so bored, you would have gone to the kitchen to get food to wait until something exciting happened.
They have to have continual weird happenings to keep us on edge. So, you are right, but they can't do it.
Now that the episode has aired, I must say that I like the idea of the sharpened still spike through the head - although it requires such precision and special circumstances that its use is limited (like through a fence line with a bunch of zeds lined up just waiting to get it).
Swords or heavy machetes seem to be the best way to go for quick and certain kills. You lop off the head pretty quickly, or if you're really in trouble you can go for the arms of multiple zeds so that they can't grab you - then either take them out one-by-one or run away.
A 12-gauge to the head would be pretty certain, but the problem is that the ammo is going to be limited in such a scenario and that its hard to be too mobile while lugging around several dozen or more rounds.
Dear Ancesthnr,
If people we know knew we were talking about the best way to kill zombies, they would think you and I are crazy.
I never missed an episode of MacGyver as I learned something each time - so, I guess I am a bit nuts - especially for a woman. However, being a woman with less strength than men, any advantage I can learn is a good thing.
Back to killing zombies - The sharp steel spike will work great if one jabs it in an eye - it will go straight through the eye socket into the brain. Don't think I have enough strength to penetrate the skull with a spike, but an eye would be easy.
I have a Cold Steel brand defensive bat and that thing is designed to crush a skull or break an arm or leg. No one would walk away after being hit by that. Look up Cold Steel bat on Amazon to see what I mean. The weight of that bat will crush whatever it hits. It sits several steps inside my front door. It feels lethal when you pick it up.
I was going to get a machete and picked out one on Amazon and never did get it. I have limbs from another yard that grow over my fence and I have to clean that out every year. I was thinking the machete would make short work of that but the manual hedge cutter I have is doing that job well. I still need that machete, don't I, for cutting off zombie arms and heads.
I really like the idea of cutting off the arms with a machete because that is their main way to have contact. One without arms is at a great disadvantage. I hope none show up before I get a machete.
If there is no gun available for a head shot or one is saving ammo, a machete and a Cold Steel bat would save your life.
For your information, a Cold Steel bat looks like a black baseball bat - some of them may be brown, I don't remember. It's unbreakable but none of them are made of steel. The one I got is the “Brooklyn Smasher” model. It's a bit longer than the others but that allows me, a female with shorter arms than a man, to stay a little farther away from the zombie and still get a direct hit. Look them up on Amazon and read of their construction.
If taking a trip, stick it in the car - you are just taking a baseball bat, totally legal. You, however, know it is a lethal weapon when used. If you have children, don't let them play with this bat - they could, in playing with the bat, crush a skull of a pet or another child.
Stay safe and keep working on eliminating zombies - see you next Sunday for the next episode of Walking Dead.
