My husband and I saw ARGO today. It is truly chilling that this movie is coming out now that we have just experienced Benghazi. The parallels are there to be drawn by any viewer, between Carter's State Department and Obama's, in terms of naivete and putting how things look politically ahead of the safety of our people. People who would never go see 2016 will be seeing this. I think this will be another nail in the Obama/Biden coffin.

Something tells me this movie was to coincide with a Stevens’ rescue or ?

“vanity— ARGO— the Iranian Hostage/Diplomat Rescue Movie”

http://washingtonexaminer.com/ben-affleck-finds-david-petraeus-remarkable-is-buddies-with-huma-abedin/article/2510446

Ben Affleck finds David Petraeus remarkable, is buddies with Huma Abedin

(snip)

Petraeus was actually on hand, attending an event at the Canadian Embassy and then watching the film alongside other prominent Washingtonians at the movie theater in Chinatown. Also in the crowd were “Argo” cast members John Goodman and Bryan Cranston, along with former Rep. Anthony Weiner and his wife, State Department official Huma Abedin. Affleck explained why he invited his “good friend” Abedin, who in turn brought along her husband. “The reason why she is here, is she was instrumental in helping us shoot at the State Department,” Affleck said. “As you noticed, we shot at the real State Department ... our production designers were allowed to go inside and look at the seventh floor and recreate it.”

How much is fact and how much is Hollywood fiction? It’s hard to trust any movie coming out of Hollywood that claims to be based on real events. They usually include stuff that never happened, or leave out pertinent info, just to make the movie a box-office success.

I remember seeing a made-for-tv movie about this years ago. I don’t think this is the Ross Perot movie.

Found it!

I already read the book last week, it was interesting, but the previews of the movie look a lot more dramatic than reality :)

I’m done sending my money to liberal actors and movie companies. I’ll wait to see it free online somewhere, someday if I really think it’s worth it.

Okay, I just came back
As a movie goes, it is pretty good
as history, it fails dramatically
propaganda against the Shah, from the Iranian actors and the supposedly State department actors and CIA guys
Blame America for the fall of Iran, blame the Shah for being mean

They totally left out all descriptions of Khomenie killing people, hinted it was mob violence when it was organized mob violence in reality

Affleck wasn’t bad. The other Americans weren’t so bad, either. They dont look so much like the real escapees as the previews made it look, but close enough that if you know the players, they pose okay :)

The ending is total fiction according to the Book ARGO and the escapees themselves

Still, not a bad movie, I will most likely buy it, it means somethign to me :)

Agree.

I also have to say kudos to Affleck for putting a quality film together.

I think he captured the feeling of the times, with interspersing street scenes and news clips from the era.

Goodman and Arkin were funny. It’s good to see them in the cast. Whoever wrote the comments on the phoniness of hollywood did us all a favor.
