For about 25 years the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese has batted at the #4 slot on McDonald's menu. My boy and I hit the drive through tonight because Mom wasn't in the car..... we were both ready for two Super Size #4's and then my world had changed. The Double QP was in the #3 slot! When and why did this happen? You Nannies and Busybodies with dietary suggestions can move on. This chat is for people who like to eat where, what and when they want who are well schooled in the menu of a great American institution.
I may give that a try soon, but I'll tone it down to an additional 12 slices.

with your own burger, you can pick a better quality of meat to start with. you can also cook it in a way to give it more flavor than a fast food place can. if you start out with better quality ingredients and cook it bettrper you’ll end up with a superior burger.
I've always liked McDonalds burgers, but they don't really taste like a "real" burger. The best fast food / drive through burgers in the midwest are at Hardees/Carl Jr, though I've never had in/out or whataburgers.

“Anyone who thinks McDonalds is good food just hasnt ever had a good burger.”
Well you must have a lot of time on your hands to be going to those upscale burger joints, or going to the store, buying all the fixings, taking them home, lighting the grill, prepping the toppings, cleaning up, etc. Bottom line is I think that anyone who derides McDonalds must have an hourly rate somewhere below minimum wage or they’d see the value of their time is a dominant part of the equation. Bullish.
The best burger I have found is in Yakima, Washington at 2415 South 1st St
Here is a Miner's burger and fries:
Yes! Whataburger... hands down the best.
I never have understood the appeal of the White Castle hamburger. It seems like a stripped down burger. A burger is not complete without lettuce, tomato and onion with a special 1000 Island sauce. Even the bun is funny. It seems like a dinner roll.
Ah gots yo telgens bref rite heah! |
I know this isn’t The Great One. He’s lactose intolerant.
“most fast food pales compared to . . . your own grill”

Don’t forget the In-N-Out secret menu. Mustard fried double double.
Very true about differences in quality depending on who manages the place. The McD’s closest to me is just off the interstate and it is never as good as the neighborhood one a little further away in the opposite direction. The one on the interstate also charges more for the same items, and they screw up the order in some way nearly half the time.
So Cal has In-N-Out, Fat Burger, The Hat and Tommy's, nuff said.
I have whataburger in fl. Best burger around.. besides home. :0)
McDonald's food makes many people feel nauseous very soon after eating it. I've had this experience on many occasions. The "quality" is next to crap. I happen to be 6'2 and 200 pounds, I'm very healthy and do a lot of cycling (almost daily). IMO, McDonald's and other fast food burger chains are for people who want to eat like pigs and feel like them as well.
Enjoy.
I’m just not a snob like you. Life’s too short to be a snob. I like all types types of burgers. My only request is that a burger not be overly greasy. Otherwise I eat them if they are fried, grilled, broiled, or whatever.
Butter burger, and a cup of soup! Frozen custard for desert. YUP!
In-N-Out is fairly new here in D/FW and haven’t generated enough business to stay open all night. But we can get double/double What-A-Burger all night and they’re mighty good plus onion rings.
