At one time California was going to have it’s electoral votes proportional to the vote.
Apparently, if we did that the dem would easily lose here.
There are only a few sections of California that are liberal, unfortunately its winner take all, so the way the population falls, the liberals are bunched to just a few areas and dominate.
Someone has a red/blue map of California, and it is amazing, how little of California is actually liberal.
(Oh, good grief..sorry this is rambling. I am starting to sound like obama just blathering looking for a coherent sentence.)

I hear ya. Many states suffer from this. Illinois has Chicago, Pennsylvania has Philly, etc. If you are driving through almost every state most sections will be Republican/conservative, unfortunately the urban areas all tend to be collectivist to some degree or another - and that is where the majority of the people live.
