Entire Cities In World of Warcraft Dead, Hack Suspected
Slashdot ^ | 10/7/2012 | hypnosec

Posted on 10/07/2012 6:53:05 PM PDT by vbmoneyspender

"Entire cities in the World of Warcraft have been destroyed with no one spared, not even the NPCs. About 13:00 GMT, forums on WOW started getting the first comments from users regarding players and NPCs dying on the Ragnaros-EU realm in Orgrimmar. Users of the online game started reporting that Draenor had a similar sight to offer. Some of the other realms where this was reported include Tarren Mill, and Twisting Nether."

Also at Joystiq, and (with more screenshots) at WCCF Tech, which reports that "it appears the damage is most severe in World of Warcraft European servers."

I was thinking the same thing. One of South Park’s best.

It would take all the hackers ever born to take down the Barrens, and those playing there would have their keesters for lunch.

Stopped playing a few years ago, but love WoW. What a wonderful world, compared to the cr@p going on in “western” reality.

NPC = non-player character. It is one of the toons that is run by the program or employee, and not a paying subscriber.

“Part of me wonders if someone is trying to tell us something.”

I don’t really understand all this gaming stuff, but it does seem to me that this would be a rather major hacking job.

Also I am reminded that one of the people killed in Benghazi was a real big shot in the gaming world. Not WoW, something more esoteric than that.

As James Taranto often says: everything is seemingly spinning out of control!

“WORST. DISASTER. EVER. “

No, we are hoping to read that on DU after the Ryan/Bidenopolis debate.

Hold it right there, youngster!

This li’l ol’ lady got many moons of pleasure from playing WoW. You would be surprised how many conservative geezers and geezerettes enjoy the challenges of this game.

Keeps us sharp, thinking, planning, and distracted from the aches and pains of “elder hood”.

Not to mention we can usually whip the kiddie butts when playing, because we can out-”strategerize” the hormonal, impulse driven, basement dwellers.

We have real life experience out there in the modern jungle, after all.

Might just have to start playing again, now that I am close to the big 70.
