In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
strepitous \STREP-i-tuhs\, adjective
boisterous; noisy.
Example sentences:
But what strepitous sounds, what harmonious tumult diverts my attention to another part ?
-- José Francisco de Isla, The History of the Famous Preacher, Friar Gerund de Campazas
Here is no idyllic meditative retreat from the strepitous city but a scene of virile actionfields sounding with human labor, vibrating with human energy.
-- Beulah B. Amram, "Swinburne and Carducci," The Yale Review
Etymology:
Strepitous stems from the Latin word strepit which meant "noise."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
OMG she is lusting after the girls. Wow.
Note this thread:
Keep in mind that Hill-buzz was started by a bunch of guys who were promoting Hillary in 2008. They seem to write from a very “gay” point of view, but some of their observations are worth noting.
I have to say that I “watched” the debate while working on my laptop simultaneously. IOW, my eyes were on my keyboard, and only my ears were listening. Thus, I did not note all of the details in this article.
Yeah, Michelle did look angry at the end, while the Romney clan was strepitous.
Eh, all she is doing is appreciating God’s finest work. Recall, after He made woman, He figured He may as well stop there, it wasn’t going to get any better - even took the next day off in celebration. For once Hill was on the right side of things.
I wonder if Obama’s pitiful appearance last night will depress the turnout for his campaign stop in Madison, WI this afternoon? Probably not. Madison has been describe as 7 square miles of insanity surrounded by reality. I know that some FReepers will be there to protest him. I also now that you cannot get in to the event unless you supply your phone number to the campaign.
I thought it was just me...lol
Really? I think its beuatiful....!
So Romney had to hold his own against TWO people with one of them being the moderator. And Romney succeeded impressively. He is knowledgeable, quick on his feet, and came across as reassuringly competent. And he was handsome, too! Id never really noticed that before but hes very handsome, strong-looking, and is the kind of president that in a movie or TV show would triumph over space aliens and successfully manage whatever natural disaster is coming. He exudes confidence and instills in me a belief that with him at the helm we can get everything back on track. Meanwhile, Barack Obama looked like a low-rent drug addict who was jonesing for his next fix and was totally disinterested in being there.Read more: Hillbuzz
Considering the self professed proclivities of the Kevin Dujan, Mitt should be worried about suddenly being noticed to be handsome. I wonder what they'll write about Paul Ryan, after his round with Biden?
there’s nothing like a snarky, catty gay man, i LOVE hillbuzz and that was fantastic! thanks!
I LOVE HillBuzz, too. They say what they want, no holding back.
close enough. every ppm of evil deadly CO2 that gets into the air displaces an O2 you know (not sure why argon and nitrogen get to stay, but what the hey...)
You really need to watch the whole thing. It was delicious. A for you.
You have to watch a replay on cspan because it was that good. I only yelled back at ozero 3 or 4 times, which is really low for me. I have two yard signs out front now but one is going to my friend at the park who canceled his Dr. appt today to stay home and listen to Rush instead. He was up till 1:30 watching the replay after watching it the first time. We were very happy swapping stories this am.
A for you!
Al Gore Actually Blames High Altitude in Denver for Obamas Debate Performance
Gore blames Obama debate performance on Denver's altitude
Gore Blames Denver's Altitude for Obama's Debate Performance
It Was the Altitude! (obamas debate loss)
When everybody knows that nothing you say is true, stop talking.
Romney said stuff that is true, to piss off the democrats if for no other reason.
Empty chair can't change its posture. 67% of viewers said Romney won the debate; 8% said neither Romney nor Obama won; the rest is pouting and deep in denial, claiming that Obama won the debate
Walter would stand a better chance than Dopey Joe, even without Jeff Dunham's hand up his butt.
A+ for you! It’s a glorious day to be a republican.
Partly cloudy and 83, with another coo0l front on the way over the weekend...
With strepitous conversations
Obama’s minions now begin
To “interpret” that debate
In a way that makes it spin-
Saying their idol was “tired”
And that most certainly might
Give him that deerlike stare
In the headlights at night
Or that he was “thinking”
While pouting like a spoiled ass
Because he was contradicted
And showed his lack of class
I got a laugh out of the way Romney called a halt just as his highness began to swing into orator mode-reminded me of pouring a bucket of water on firecrackers just as someone lights them...
