and still no nomination for KISS.

It’s actually called “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.” and none of that is rock and roll any more than William Shatner’s records.

Rush fans always have the biggest outcry for HOF nomination for this band. The HOF bums are notorious for passing them over, too. They had better induct Rush on the first shot.
For my part, I think it’s a disgrace that Deep Purple only gets nominated after Jon Lord’s death. They were the riff factory for just about every metal riff you heard in the 80s.

OK, to each his own, but I never liked Rush. I don’t see what it is that Rush offers. I just don’t feel it. Funny, on cable music channels, Rush is both on the (Current) Rock channel & the Retro Rock channels. Maybe the Classic Rock too. One thing, though, that we probably can agree on: the debate tonight gave me a Rush!

I’d like to see Devo on that list. What’s Kraftwerk doing on there?

Rush! Finally! Perhaps the Hall is ready to start getting some credibility back.

While Geddy Lee’s singing voice is not everyone’s cup of tea, one has to respect the incredible musicianship of Geddy, Alex, and Neil (sp?).

Second look: Rush and Purple overshadowed those non-entities PE and NWA. Political and “gangsta” rap aroused such revulsion in me when I first heard it . . . and I confess it still does today, with the utter hatred, nihilism and racism in it; no redeeming qualities. Used to be a time when something as openly seditious as “By The Time I Get To Arizona” ever got recorded, the performer would end up in federal prison.

Is Frankie Avalon in it yet? If not, he oughta be the one handing the statuettes to these heroes anyway.

WELL IT’S ABOUT TIME!
They’ve only remained relevant since they came out in the mid-70s, taking rock and prog rock in particular to new heights, as well as directly inspiring all of the members of Dream Theater, as well as Geddy Lee inspiring Steve Harris of Iron Maiden.

Yes, and to be fair, Rush should be a first ballot inductee. Then Rolling Stone can finally put their absurd snubbing of Rush behind them...

LOL. The headline for this post made me think that Rush Limbaugh was public enemy among the rock hall of famers. You fooled me.

the list of nominees up for induction in 2013 is as eclectic as they come. "Eclectic" being used in this context as a synonym for "NOT Rock and Roll."
Rush. yes, Deep Purple without a doubt, Heart, no (yes, it's Rock but there are a lot more deserving Bands not in there who should go first.) The rest of these nominees are not Rock, not Rock 'n Roll, and most have never even so much as covered a Rock and/or Roll tune.
Fail, HOF, as usual.

Public Enemy definitely deserves to be in the Rock and Roll HOF. They changed the sound of the music, blending rap in with metal and introducing sampling to the masses for starters.
Their influence is still everywhere.
