I understand this decision, BUT

I was savagely attacked for posting an Akin article and saying that what Akin said would be seized by the media to as evidence conservatives are sexists (which by the way happened). The dominant response was we should say what we want and the liberal media be damned.

How is this decision different?

One minute we care what the liberal media might make of statements and the next minute we don’t.

Basically there is just so much hypocrisy at FR.
I don’t blame Arcy for being fed up with it.

The liberal media has been danged without much help from anyone in Conservative land. Everyone knows (here) the liberal media speaks with a forked tongue, as do all liberals. Think of the sound bites. Heck even zer0 would have probably mentioned us tonight. On second thought, that may have been a good thing, though now that the situation has been moderated, the liberal media and zer0 is left without ammo. It is going to be fun to take the Senate hill, and hold the House hill. Mitt is not perfect and those who are like Mr. Akin will help hold Mitt's feet to the fire. When dealing with hypocrisy one had best fight amongst ourselves; be like siblings and stand together to defeat those in the liberal media. It is taking place, as am typing. May it continue. btw ... this is an opinion. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the liberal media were as honest?

We cannot live in fear of how we are characterized.

and as to be expected I see posters on this thread high fiving who are known to me as low octane on culture war but high on bigot finger pointing and do just that

this is how the GOP establishment thinks and it may fail for them yet again in a few weeks

or if we are lucky the distaste for Obama will get Romney over the top

it won't be because he did it by fighting Obama like he did Newt

as for Arcy’s title ..maybe it could have been worded a bit more clarifying...it was in jest but it wasn't that bad

but for some here...and they have always been here...they come and go...the race sensitive sorts with their own agendas they are rarely truthful about...they live to preen over perceived racism here

I got news for anyone not stupid but white against anyone racism is about the least of any problem we have facing us today...it has almost become a unicorn

"Hypocrisy" is too strong a word: it implies a moral failing, which isn't the reason for the inconsistency you point out.

Try looking at it this way: the inconsistency you flag is the result of a tug-of-war between prudence and resentment at having to self-censor. Between avoiding more mud being slung our way and "busting loose." You'll have a more accurate, as well as charitable, interpretation of that see-sawing.
