Albert Peterson shot dead his wife and two sons hours after going to church because he dreaded the thought of Obama winning the election, a family friend has revealed.
A confidante of the family for the past 25 years has spoken to MailOnline about the strength and grace of the Peterson family, as well as the torment that plagued Albert which drove him to shoot dead his wife Kathleen and his two sons Christopher and Mathew at their suburban home in DC on Sunday.
A history of mental illness, the loss of a dear uncle, and a growing fear of Obama winning a second term in the White House took its toll on the mind of Mr Peterson, a wealthy defense contractor, the friend said.

Neighbor Jeremy Wilcox told local news radio station WTOP that the family had attended a community picnic together on Sunday and “showed no signs of any problem.”
Another neighbor, Alvaro Lopes, told local news station WNEW that Albert Peterson had tried to commit suicide in the past, and that he had been taking new heart attack medication that seemed to affect his personality.
“He seemed dizzy, just different,” Lopes said. “Hearing about what happened today made me think that could have something to do with it.”
Police would not comment on any possible connection between the deaths and Peterson’s medication.
Because there is mercy in the universe, I am not entrusted to be a mental health professional. With a mind uncluttered by the facts or any relevant experience, let me observe that there were probably dozens of demons haunting this poor soul. That they affected his fine family, as well, so tragically magnifies the pain unbearably. It’s not a story about Obama.
“when the USA press carries this story, the angle will be that Republican hatemongers baited this man into killing his family and himself.”
Yes, when the truth is probably closer to: “fraudulent pollsters destroyed this man’s faith in the democratic system and drove him to despair”.
zer0’s fault. Why didn’t this loser just take his own life? Or at least wait until the election was over. Damn media killed another citizen.
Maggie had been a friend of the family for the past three decades. 'I've known Kathie since I was 21. She's been like a sister to me,' Maggie said. 'If she knew her husband would have done this to her, she would have protected those boys till the end.'
Also said that she figured the husband may off himself, never considered that the wife was at threat. Doesn't sound like she was too broken up about the husband's mental strain.
Can we get an impartial comment about the circumstances (possibly from a co-worker)?
From what I read between the lines, it seems things may not have been all that wonderful between him and the wife.
They met (30? yrs ago) and both loved exercise/health yada yada. He started to suffer depression and with that, gained weight. His wife was cute, a professional and seemed to be getting annoyed with his not being active enough.
They had recently attended a Romney event but he didn’t get to see it. He dropped his family and neighbor and had to park far away and supposedly his knees couldn’t handle the walk to get to it.
He was mentally ill, a family history of mental illness/suicides, troubles with his wife, defense contractors are supposed to be laying off...he had much more going on than Obama.
“Something is missing here. Doesnt feel right.”
Precisely what I was going to post. “Mentally Ill”!?, “Defense Contractor”!?. Gun, shoot, violence.
As horrible, and sad as this is I have to call BS on this article.
It seems to be a crisis that Leftist gun grabbers, Leftist interests cannot let go to waste.
Congratulations, Mainstream Media. Your “Operation: Demoralize” just yielded its’ first casualties. . .
I understand that according to the source, he had mental issues but I also understand the man was a wealthy professional. Given that information, he couldn't have been a total nut job.
It's not so subtle. You know the msm will play this to the hilt.
“...couldn’t have been a total nut job.”
Four corpses in the house is pretty “total!”
After reading the article, seems like the question should be “What was his Freeper name?!!!”
Loosen your tinfoil... there’s a goodly number of wackjobs in defense contracting like anywhere else. And clearances are not the most difficult thing to get.
Been in the defense trenches for 2 decades.
I’m not wearing tinfoil....I’m looking at the upside-down reality surrounding us. Have you noticed that nothing adds up? I’m not advocating or making excuses for what this man did; I’m merely suggesting that there might be something he knew that terrified him and might terrify even the soundest of minds. Think about it; why are we capitulating to those who are our enemies?
You think money keeps you from being depressed?
Sad thing to happen but I would research their background first before I start calling sides. Don’t forget the MOOSElim in the White House said it was the movie not al-Queda that killed four Americans.
LSM lies in polling data killed this family.
///
certainly an accessory.
Founding Fathers protected a free press.
not a press that is the dedicated arm,
of one party, that deliberately lies,
and covers up.
(Edwards? for 2 years? if they hide things like that so well, what other things don’t we even know about yet?)
Maybe I’m wrong here but from my own perspective, FReepers don’t go forwarding emails willy nilly to friends/relatives/associates saying “did you see this” several times a day every day.
Participating in a forum gets better communication.
Doesn’t sound like his wife’s family particularly liked the man to begin with.
Yep. Wealthy defense contractor caps family and self...because Obama might (might?) get reelected?
This is someone who should have the wherewithal and contacts to relocate to a friendly country.
So what did he know, what was he working on, and did he find out something he wasn't going to keep quiet about (speculation about possible near-future misdeeds he might have been privy to by this administration is rife)?
The "mental illness" part is an aggressive defense against any letters sent out 'in the event of my sudden demise'.
