Police arrested a Texas mom for allowing her children to play outside last week, after a neighbor reported to police that the kids were riding scooters around a cul de sac.
Tammy Cooper, who was arrested for child endangerment, insists she was watching her children from a lawn chair in her front yard.
Now, Cooper is suing the La Porte Police Department, the arresting officer and the neighbor who made the call.

She's asking for damages, 7k! Legal fees, figures! What's the point in that, to embarrass the dept and neighbor?
...but now Cooper is suing for damages, $7,000 in legal fees.
You should have had your insufferable neighbor arrested for cruelty to animals.
No, La Porte is not a liberal area (I work in Deer Park). But my first impression was since when has La Porte TX become part of Minneapolis. This is typical of control freak behavior exhibited by Minnestoopidans.
>> What’s the point in that, to embarrass the dept and neighbor?
If that is her intention... then I hope it works.
Go girl, go!
It’s time all this stool pidgeon BS came to an end.
Please re-read my post.
I live in Baytown.
The problem here is obviously the arrest. Cooper was arrested for child endangerment. A warning would have sufficed.
>> Ive been to many a calls where a child was hit by a car or truck etc when they were playing around and the parents were supervising. <<
.
I’d place the blame on the inattentive drivers for those cases.
Residential neighborhoods are for the people that live there.
The LaPorte PD is far worse than dumb. I was there late one night and heard all this loud cussing going on. I walked down the hall to the breakroom and there were about a half dozen officers playing poker and getting drunk as skunks. Empty beer cans were scattered everywhere.
I asked if they could please hold down the profanity because there were ladies in the building. One of them told me that if I didn't like it to close the f***ing door.
I did.
They were 6 and 9 y.o.
As I said, LaPorte is not a liberal area, which means the same as hardly a liberal area, as you so stated. But what is reported here is just like the idiocy that I have seen in my ten years in the leftist toilet called Minnecraponus. The lefties in Minnecraponus make a Texas hardshell Baptist seem like a laissez faire libertarian. In that city, if I parked in front of someone’s house on a public street to go to a restaurant, the resident would go ballistic and call the cops (who can’t be bothered with the gang shootings, but will get on the case of anyone who hurts a lefties feeeeeeliiiiings straightaway).
When I was five I walked a mile to the train station to meet my dad when he arrived home from work. The only problem was I got there at 3:30 and train didn’t arrive until 6:30.
Some old man who got involved told me the train wasn’t coming for another three hours and offered to give me a ride home, which he did.
I’m convinced the guy was an angel because my face could have easily ended up on a milk carton.
These kids were in a cul-de-sac with mom sitting in a lawn chair watching.
Should have, but it was enough to finally be rid of her.
We sat on our front porch for several hours a day for three days after she was gone.
And commented at the lack of police presence.
My mom never supervised my outdoor play. Half the time she didnt know where I was.”
I never supervised my children’s outdoor play but most everyone in the neighborhood had kids and all played mom to any of them if it was needed, including sending them home if they misbehaved or passing out bandages if needed. We also had two Black labs and one of them stayed with each child all the time. Kids used to really get upset when they were trying to play ball and one of the dogs would take the ball and run home with it.
In this day and age I would probably be labeled an unfit mother.
I could be deep up in the forest and when it was time to get home my dad would blow the air horns on his motorcycle. You could hear that sound for miles. BTW - I was only about 7 or 8 at the time.
Since when is it against the law for kids to play outside????
airhorns on a motorcycle??
as in a big rig or train horn??
