If you want to talk about Ryan, then you are posting to the wrong guy, I’m not even voting for him.

It is unfortunate that you signed up to make the post about Reagan last night, and that now your second post on FR is another effort to use Reagan to defend Mitt Romney.

You should learn to never use Reagan by comparing him to the despicable, Reagan hating liberal named Mitt Romney.

Romney has always despised Reagan and conservatism, Mitt even left the GOP in 1979 because of Reagan and the right ascending to control of the GOP. The liberal, draft dodging, pro-abortion, Massachusetts Governor is the anti-Reagan, the opposite of him.

Governor “Ronnie Raygun” was the right wing Governor of California, deeply hated by the left, and loved by the right, unlike failed one term Gov Romney (he left with 34% approval), the man who hated Reagan and was purely liberal, and anti-conservative

You mean 7 years of military service Captain Reagan, who by the second half of the 1940s was already starting to be seen as a communist fighting conservative, testifying to Congress and naming names, working with the FBI, having to carry a gun for self defense from the left, Reagan?

The last time Reagan voted Dem for President was 1948, for Romney it was 1992, By 1952 Reagan was campaigning for Republicans as a “Democrat for Eisenhower”, he kept using that anti-liberal, conservative club until 1962.

In 1952 Reagan was campaigning for Republicans like Eisenhower, who he campaigned for again in 1956, and then campaigned for Nixon against JFK in 1960, already having earned a reputation as an active speaker for conservatism for years.

The Reagan who formally registered Republican in 1962 and spoke at the Goldwater convention in 1964? Romney was already anti-Goldwater and anti-Reagan. Reagan was famous for his conservatism before the Vietnam War, and the Great Society, Roe V Wade, the abortion wars, Jimmy Carter, decades of Cold War defeats, and the radical 1960s, before the Reagan Revolution and the Contract with America, and Clinton, and the Gore election of 2000, Mitt Romney would not even register Republican during the Reagan Presidency or vote for him. Romney, at almost age 60, had a stroke (or something) and suddenly, unexplainedly, became a totally different person around 2006, merely to run for national office.

Reagan and Romney have nothing in common.

"Ron Paul is pro-life"

"Is not the libertarian platform pro-fornication (sex outside the bonds of marriage) ?"

I wasn't aware any party had a platform position on sex outside of marriage. I doubt the Libertarian Party does. But that wasn't the topic.

Abortions are only sought because of fornication.

It's quite rare (I've never heard of a single case) where a husband and wife used abortion as "birth control".

The Democrat platform doesn't explicitly say that they support the "partying" lifestyle or couples cohabitating without being married, but the pro-abortion stance is what keeps Democrats voting Democrat. All I ever hear is Roe v. Wade. Of course the other main pillar of the Democrat party is leftism; business is evil, working people need to be against "the man", fake environmental causes, etc. But when it comes right down to it, women that I've personally known allow pro-abortion to keep them voting Democrat no matter who is running. They fear abortion being outlawed and envision themselves needing to get back-alley abortions. This is professional women who have never been pregnant, mind you, not welfare queens. They want to be able to cohabitate without being married or live singly but have sex from time to time without being married.

Pregnancies don't occur because of pollen in the air, if someone plans on not having sex outside of marriage they know that they will not ever desire an abortion.

IMHO, it's high time we call a spade a spade. If the topic is abortion, it really is about fornication.

Sex outside of marriage is a lifestyle that many people now think is normal; it's become institutionalized. For thousands of years this was not the case. It's obviously gotten to the point that some people who think of themselves as conservative don't see anything wrong with pornography.

I wonder how many of these folks also believe they are believing Christians. If they do, they're sadly mistaken, because the Bible exhorts the believer that such things are sinful. As Christians, we can't serve two masters. We are either true believers, which means obedience to Christ, or we are not. We can't be happy citizens of cities filled with lust and fornication and say live and let live to all that sin, and then at the same time somehow claim that we are children of God and obedient to Christ. Modern Christians often point to Christ dining with sinners, but we all know that this is twisting Scripture to suit ourselves not wanting to admit that sin is sin. Christ never said that the sin was acceptable.

I agree. Great post. seemed directed at me but I enjoyed reading it. :)

Reagan is my favorite president in my lifetime. My others are
Washington, Eisenhower, and Monroe, but I’m not quite that old.
The left thinks Jefferson is one of them but I think otherwise. States rights and opposition of government debt among others.

I have been a long time lurker here 2003??

I wouldn’t think of comparing romney to Reagan. Romeny wasnt my preferred choice but when I see Newt I think back to the Jack Kemp debates. Looks matter a lot these days unfortunately and now we have hdtv to make things worse.

Only reason I brought up Reagan was thinking back to when he was president he repeatedly pointed out that he didn’t leave the democrat party. They left him.

My whole point of my original reply was if some lib porn-star(ex?) want to vocally support Romney I say that’s a good thing. She never tried bombing the pentagon far as i know.

I didn’t mean to get confrontational, especially with first post. That’s the problem with writing on the internet versus face to face conversation where you can better convey attitude with tone of voice.

I understand that’s your opinion, but I was wondering what actually backs up that bright line distinction? What about people who care about some of the social issues, but not others? Also left wingers? I have a hard time calling someone who favors limited government interference in our day to day lives a left winger just because they don’t really care about the social issues. To me they’re just not social conservatives. To take an absurd example, what about a socially conservative communist or socialist? Surely that would not be a right winger in your opinion.

Without social conservatism, there cannot be conservatism.

We did great for many years in America as long as were socon, but liberalism destroyed out fabric and created a shattered, dependent society of strangers.

The more social liberalism, then the greater need of more government.

Social liberalism is what destroyed us and brought the government into our lives.

What a childish response, just try to focus more on what’s actually going on, what someone actually posts rather than whatever you were trying to get into about something that wasn’t related to me at all.

“Please, engage brain.”

I will if you will, and try for a sense of humor why you’re at it. Like Libertarians all Conservatives can’t be defined by your definition. I know too many people that claim to be moral but are in fact theocrats and would love to be dictators because they feel morally superior. They have a tendency to violate the Constitution the same way as the left. It is for our good.

How is being for porn, conservative? I’d really like to know the liberal logic you have to go through to somehow put pro-porn in the conservative camp.

I can tell you a number of ways why it’s NEVER been in the conservative camp. Anti-woman, anti-exploitation, anti-family, immoral, un-Christian, un-biblical, it’s a vice, degenerate, degrading, encourages other vices like prostitution and other lewdness, degrades the society, it’s sinful behavior, people involved in it are hardly held in high regard by others, people involved in it often wind up doing drugs, getting diseases, and dying early from related problems, it’s led to abortions by women who’ve gotten pregnant from doing porn. Nothing noble or altruistic or inspiring at all about porn.

“How is being for porn, conservative?”

I really think you should go back and read my original comment. I never said anything about porn being conservative. After your comments I did a little search on Ms. Jamison and I think her only interest in Romney is financial since she also supports PITA and Hillary. I personally think Hillary and the porn industry are equal vices. She also doesn’t sound like a libertarian either. I suspect she is a rich Hedonist.
