Wrestling legend and World Wrestling Entertainment announcer Jerry "The King" Lawler has been hospitalized after collapsing during a show in Montreal on Monday night, the show's producers announced.
"Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night's broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal," a statement on WWE's website said. "We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family."
Lawler passed out at ringside and was given CPR in the locker room of the arena before being taken to a hospital, co-host Michael Cole told viewers during a break in the televised program. Cole said the 62-year-old Lawler was in the emergency room and breathing on his own, but "this is an extremely serious situation."
"This is not part of tonight's entertainment," Cole said. "This is a real-life situation."
Later in the program, Cole said Lawler was responding to tests and would be given a CT scan at the hospital, adding, "Jerry, my friend, my prayers are with you."

As always, if you'd like ON or OFF my wrasslin' ping list, let me know
wondering if Tony Clifton was nearby when it happened?
I would have thought he was much older than 62.
NW MISS prayers up for the King
I grew up in a small southeren Indiana town in the 70s and 80s and use to watch those Saturday morning broadcasts of “in studio” wrestling matches from Memphis. I knew it was fake but loved it nevertheless. I will always remember his on off again freindship/hatefest with and sometimes against Billy “SuperStar” Dundee. LOL.
From a close friend, Jerry Lawler is said to be still at the hospital and is in good condition.
Thanks for this post. I was watching RAW last night on the DVR and saw the report from Michael Cole. With the nature of the WWE I wasnt sure of what to think. I do know that a 62 yr old Jerrry shouldnt be getting into the ring with CM Punk or anybody for tthat matter.
(Add me to your wrestling ping)
WWE Universe prayers up!
Jerry’s integral, his high pitched “look at this” always makes me laugh.
ping-me please.
I too watched a lot of that wrestling.....Yamamoto was a frequent there. Oh, I lived in Walls, MS just across the TN/MS line back then.
You’re both added to the ping list.
For 10 years I had the pleasure of working at a Manufacturing facility in North Georgia. I was a supervisor for one side of the plant and the supervisor on the other side of the plant was a guy named Pat. Most people remember him by the name ‘Pat Rose’.
The stories Pat used to tell were awesome and funny. He trained and worked with Jerry Lawler for many years.
I have talked to him twice today and my wife has talked to him (she works there with Pat) about Jerry.
Pat has been in touch with several friends and family of Jerry’s and he said he would text me if anything changes in his condition. As for right now Jerry is doing fine.
Oh and I promised Pat I would tell everybody to listen to his Radio show. Link below.

So glad to hear that Jerry Lawler is going to be OK. When it happened last night on RAW at first I thought it was fake, I think many people did, but soon realized it was not fake. Thank God the EMT’s were there at the scene otherwise he would have died. They pumped him for 20 minutes before they got a pulse back and has already had a stint put in him last night. Get well soon Jerry!!
And occasionally workers would deliver a giant, coffin-like box and "Dr. Frank Stein" would emerge "by surprise" at "just the right time!"
Rick Flair and Jerry Jarrett had more than their share of appearances as well.
Hope the King recovers...reminds me of the night I was watching the live PPV when Owen Hart was killed by his fall.
