Those are Black Vultures, Turkey Vultures have red heads.

Many years ago a was swooped by two California Condors while walking on a trail in Marin county. Biggest birds, by far, I've ever seen. I thought they were turkey vultures, but they only flapped once each and soared at high speed across a valley right at me, and just got bigger and bigger and bigger. The wing flap sounded like a bedsheet being shook out, and the soaring was absolutely silent. I just stared at them in amazement. They passed right over my head about 50 feet up, and kept on going.

Much later I was told there were no Condors in Northern California, which I'm fine with, as long as someone can show me something else with an eight foot wingspan. Maybe they were pterosaurs - hey, it was Marin.
