What the World Needs Now...
One of the great Greats. I once bought a book with his lyrics. It was a tragedy when Burt and he broke up over a stupid Broadway show!
It’s very sad.
I hope this is not bad internet etiquette but here is a link to the Powerline post on Mr. David’s death. They have a fantastic video there, with Dionne Warwick singing some of their greatest hits.
I LOVE “walk on by” it is one of my favorite songs of all time, but it is ridiculous what a good song “do you know the way to San Jose” really is.

Whew, I was just thinking about David and Bacharach yesterday as I listened to Jerry Butler’s ‘Make It Easy On Yourself’ from 1962. That was 50 freaking years ago, and I’m thinking David and Bacharach had to be young pups, just starting out at the time. And now I find David was 41 when he and Bacharach wrote the song? Just wow.
Those guys gave the world a whole lot of great music.
One of the giants. RIP.
"Message to Michael"
"House Is Not a Home"
Others... too many to name.
It’s not bad internet etiquette at all. Related link are always welcome. Thank you. :)

Lou Johnson was to be Bacharach/David’s male Dionne Warwick. He recorded several singles with the duo, among them: “Reach Out for Me”, “Always Something there to Remind Me” and “Message to Martha” (later known as “Message to Michael”). They are fine records (arguably the best interpretations of those songs) that didn’t make it up the charts, and Lou Johnson faded away. Another music biz tragedy.

IMO, “Message to Michael/Martha” is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Lou Johnson’s version isn’t on Tube, so here’s Adam Faith who made it a hit in UK.
