FreedomWorks' Matt Kibbe: "I think the Establishment's freaking out"
reascon.com ^ | 8/29/2012 | Matt Welch

On Tuesday, during the normally boring rules-and-roll-call portion of the festivities, the Republican National Convention erupted in some contentious and confusing disputes between the GOP establishment and delegates associated with both Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and the Tea Party. Today I asked Matt Kibbe, president and CEO of the Tea Party-assisting political group FreedomWorks, to explain what it all meant.

"I think the Republican establishment is struggling with how to manage this very decentralized world we live in, and you saw signs of their acknowledgement on the stage like last night," Kibbe said. "It wasn't remotely about Mitt Romney, it was about giving various voices and agendas and constituencies a voice at the convention.

Isn’t that just about the exact opposite of what actually happened?

Freedom Works was a reliable source on malkin’s website as this unfolded yesterday. However, there does not seem so far to be all that much Tea Party influence after all, inside the party apparatus, nor all that much outrage among the players who were there.

Maybe after convention, details will emerge on where we really are.

The convention isn’t a convention anymore, it’s a photo op. So be it. If you lose the primary it’s not about you anymore. Get off the stage Ron Paul.

Is it just me or is this the worst venue ever? Just no one ever on the convention floor and background shots during interviews are empty like no crowd really. This may be the work of the storm and the media. Seems a lot of thrill and noise is gone, they have seen to that.

IMHO, where we really are as the Tea Party, is in the minority of the GOP.

A few more election cycles, a few more RINOS well-primaried, and more influence will gradually fall to the Tea Party.

TP has only been around for THREE YEARS. Anyone expecting 100% success and owning the machine circa 2012 are fooling themselves. X-wings vs the death star.

If you read the FW article (link below), you would see the dirty little tricks and influence the GOPe has....that’s why they’re called the GOPe!

It’s going to be a long, tough, slug-o-rama.

Here is the FW article. Read and be pissed off!

Thank you for your post. While your comments should seem obvious, they represent a correct view of the politicsl reality that has escaped the notice of many if not most here on FR.

Yes, I am familiar with the article and expect to hear, after the convention, from Schafley, Palin and those in-the-room.

Listening to Condoleezza Rice makes me rethink electing a party, not so much Romney. We must take our party in order to save America with our party. Condi is magnificent, truly extraordinarily intellegent, a magnificent American horrified by K through 12 education, AS AM I!

This caliber of American will not run, nor participate.

The Liberals have been working their way into every Federal nook and cranny inside DC since the 1930’s. Any Tea Partiers assuming 2 elections cycle of RAHRAHRAH and they deserve to own the House are fools.

The Left and GOP-e aren’t giving it up that easy!!Its their lifeblood.

The Tea Party CAN own DC and Constitutional Government..eventually...but not until they own the majority of statehouses and govenorships. The Presidency will then fall into their lap.

I think Sarah sees this.

Right on ‘mo’.

I think the “Tea Party” is making relentless progress. Let’s continue to press on and NEVER get discouraged. Let’s keep our eye on the prize of the Restoration of the Republic!

I just don’t like the whole heavy theme of we have to work hard to make America great again, shucks, we’re still great.

Let’s make the theme, we’ll have to work hard to get rid of that thug.

Where’s Reagan when you need him.

When Kibbe was selecting HIS candidate for the Nebraska Senate-Race PRIMARY , HE wanted the old school Career Office Holder {the Guy that finished a distant 3rd!}.

In his own way Kibbe has Elitist, old-school Party Loyalties, TOO.

Glen Beck is WAY TOO trusting of that Dude!

She certainly was-she is one of my favorite people, period.

I'm awed by her conviction and strength of character.

And did she ever look beautiful tonight. Don't think I have ever seen her look so together.
