Word For The Day, Wednesday, August 29, 2012—false flag (false-flag)

;

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

false flag, noun

False flag (also known as black flag) operations are covert operations designed to deceive in such a way that the operations appear as though they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is: flying the flag of a country other than one’s own. False flag operations are not limited to war and counter-insurgency operations and can be used during peace-time.

I wasn't wowed by Ann's speech but it struck me as very genuine and that she wasn't professionally coached. It was easy for her to talk about how she loves and admires her husband and the faith she has in him. That was touching. And I liked her inclusion of the things she has suffered through, in spite of their current economic status.

My favorite tweet after her speech was the one who said ' Show me a CEO who'd switch jobs with a stay-at-home mother of five.'

yes, i liked all of that about her speech. their love story was very touching to me. it always amazes me that people are together with someone they knew when they were 16 yrs old. i know there are plenty, but it seems inconceivable to me.

Now you are. When I was in middle school we used to get together with the kids from the other middle school for special projects and activities.

My sentence: A great deal of historical facts about governments - including our own, past and current - using false flag operations can be learned at a popular site I can not name or link to here, hosted by a famous man I cannot name here.

I think some of those false flag stories are truly false.

Since public schools are required to cater to the lowest common denominator, it makes sense to screen out the bright kids who would be bored stiff and not challenged at all in a basic curriculum. Some of the G&T kids really are but I believe most of them are hard-working type As. That’s been my experience working with them.

Yeah—I thought about separating out the 9/11 stuff, but, even though the allegations are demonstrably false, I thought it was a good illustration of the concept. A false false-flag, if you will.

No, I’m fine. The study found no effect on those who started smoking it regularly after age 18. I only smoked during college and for some years afterwards.

I know—false-flags are often alleged by the tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists. Some of the examples are clearly of that persuasion, although they do serve to illustrate the concept.
