Word For The Day, Wednesday, August 29, 2012false flag (false-flag)
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
false flag, noun
False flag (also known as black flag) operations are covert operations designed to deceive in such a way that the operations appear as though they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is: flying the flag of a country other than ones own. False flag operations are not limited to war and counter-insurgency operations and can be used during peace-time.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.

Practice makes perfect.....post on....
yeah the convention would have her bouncing off the walls, LOL! ; )
She definitely wants Obama gotten rid of badly. She watched the movie with us Friday. She understands the basic premise of either you deciding what you do and what you earn or the gov’t taking your stuff to give it to people who don’t do anything.
that’s all very good.
will be interesting for her this year with whatever they have for history etc, to see if they talk about the election. xsbaby is excited because senior year they have government and it’s a perfect time for it with the election etc. xshub was doing recon around her school bc it’s a HUGE obama area and he goes by the general area on the way to work. he saw no obama signs. We have orientation today for xsbaby. Ordinarily we wouldn’t need to go, but bc it’s senior year there are things unique to graduation year that they want the parents there to hear aobut.
She’s got World Geography. Right now she’s in the “normal” class, but she’ll get transferred to the gifted version once we get the paperwork all signed next week.
I would think they would deal with the election.
oh the oh so vaunted G&T program. thank goodness she won’t be in with the plebians ; )
It’s called “HEP” and geography seems to be the vehicle for it. She’ll be with a normal group for her other classes.
HEP because they are groovy? I’m teasing you. i know pub schools have G&T stuff bc my nieces and nephews have been in it. My kids have never gone to a school that had such a thing and all i can figure is that it’s a way to separate out the college bound from the rest? Neither SU nor UD have honors colleges, though i know that there are some colleges who do. all three of the kids HSs are/were college prep. Kiski Area back in my day had “tracks”: academic scientific, academic cultural, and then i guess like secretarial and vo-tech tracks. It does make sense to separate kids out that way. But it does pander to parents who want to believe their kids are SPECIAL. Visitation more than the other two was cut-throat beyond belief. You have girls who have been the top of their classes all their lives now in this class of 100, coming from three jurisdictions. they were so fiercely competitive in every way, sports, academics etc. Xsteen got an excellent education but she wasn’t wild about it while she was there.
I started having that vague feeling that the woman bit was overdone, but Ann pulled it off with style. As she finished, I knew she had a winner. Amazing woman. Her speech came from the heart and she won over her audience.
Did you hear the “corporate wife” attack from a sullen Juan Williams? I think he knew she had a winner, too. I had to read about it as I had it on CSPAN.
Just as Chris Christie was being introduced, I had a squad call. Missed that one entirely.
Loved Mia Love, John Kasich, Artur Davis. There were a few boring ones early on, but that just highlighted Ann all the more.
yes, she finished strong for sure. heard about juan williams snotty remark on Twitter, but i had to go up to bed at that point and try to unwind for bed. Missed the early speeches bc of zumba class, but got home in time for Santorum i think.
Check out Mia Love if you get the chance....black, Mormon mayor running for Congress in Utah.
I really enjoyed my governor, John Kasich’s speech. I missed the later ones but I have them on DVR.
i saw her on with Megyn Kelly earlier in the day, i know who she is.
I need a DVR. Hate being on call Election night every year and missing out on it. I found Mia Love’s speech, haven’t found Chris Christie’s yet.
The Corner at National Review online has the speeches.
Yes, they’re groovy. No, it’s an “enrichment program.”
It’s not just a college track, there are plenty of people who go to college who are not “gifted.”
When I went to school, I took “honors” versions of math, science, history, English. The gifted program included only a small subset of the people in the honors curriculum.
i am not familiar with so many gradations of special.
Just in from the running of the dogs. Did anyone guess Clint Eastwood for the mystery speaker yet?
only those of us who have seen it plastered all over twitter ; )
Whoa. Just clicked through to your link.
Some heavy duty allegations there.
