For Zer0 to honor Neil Armstrong in a state memorial would go against Zer0’s refusal to recognize individual effort and America’s exceptionalism.

"...Zer0s refusal to recognize individual effort and Americas exceptionalism."You nailed it. I doubt it will be offered.

The answer is: probably not - too inconvenient. They have time, so I doubt it's due to inconvenience. Death is never convenient - so they can't claim that. Obama and an American hero is like vinegar and oil.

Why should he? Armstrong was a great American, a real hero who left a great legacy. But he didn’t build that.

0bama and co would probably prefer that people forget that men like Neil Armstrong ever existed. His Norman Rockwell childhood and his life of service are anathema to the Progressive religion.

Actually, I will be happy if there is no state funeral. Obama would just turn it into a political event. And Obama’s hypocrisy of honoring the first man to walk on the moon after he personally trashed the program which made that walk possible would be nauseating.
No, let Neil Armstrong rest in peace.

Obama would miss out on a terrific opportunity to talk about himself and put up self-aggrandizing photographs of him staring at the moon.

Obama can't have anyone stealing his thunder. Not Neil Armstrong, not Tiger Woods, not Seal Team 6...because stealing is his job.

neil armstrong also was not black.

Come on people. Neil would not have wanted a state funeral. He was a humble man. The last thing he would have wanted was a big dog and pony show funeral (was that a pun?).

I agree. But the issue here to me is that Obama should have offered a state funeral, allowing Armstrong's family to politely decline.

I agree. Besides, if Obama had offered him a state funeral, he’d be ripped for injecting himself into a private matter. I don’t like Obama at all, but let’s be fair.
Neil Armstrong, RIP.

Wasn’t the earth’s phase waxing gibbous on July 20, 1969?

Or maybe the family didn’t want one. Ever think of that? Armstrong is a man who spent his post-Apollo 11 life avoiding the limelight. I have no idea if Obama offered or not, but the idea that Armstrong or his family would want a national circus of a funeral is ridiculous. And I really think that all these people trying to make a political issue out of it is an insult to the memory of a brave man.

Neil Armstrong was a humble man of faith. A faithful Christian who shared Holy Communion on the moon. God’s gain is our loss. RIP

Does anyone know if they’re even dipping the flags for Armstrong? Or have they denied him even that?

From what I know about the man, his family would certainly turn it down anyway, because it would definitely go against his character. He was from an era when people people actually HAD some.

Obama is not offering a state-funeral for Armstrong for the same reason he dismantled NASA... he hates White boys and their achievements.
No more complicated than that.

How do we know whether he did or did not offer?
