TAMPA, Fla. On Thursday night, the Republican convention schedule has a mystery hole just before Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Mitt Romneys speeches. The space is scheduled for remarks but simply lists To be Announced where the name of the speaker should be.
The Wall Street Journal speculated, and The Drudge Report highlighted, that the mysterious speaker could be former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
But thats almost entirely implausible. Palin is popular with some conservatives, but toxic to the nation at large. There is no way she would be the mystery speaker in a prime time slot. Plus, she is vocally siding against Team Romney on Republican convention rules changes. Thats not something a special mystery speaker for Romney would do.
But since people are speculating who this mystery speaker could be, here are the top 5 possibilities:

“But she could have used some work on her teeth....”
It seems that there is always a spoil-sport in the crowd to find fault.
We’re talking 70 years ago during World War II when dentistry wasn’t what it is today.
Geez, some people!
EXTREMELY unlikely it would be Palin, especially if appearing before Rubio. NO, look for a Zell Miller redux with Artur Davis. That would be a nice crowd-warmer for Marco.
You’ve got me wrong....I think she was a great talent and did a great service to troops...
It gives me chills....and not in the Chris Matthews sort of way. I think if I had ben BHO...I would have pooped myself.
I have to put a stop to all of this speculation. It’s me.
And Kate Smith could have gone on a diet but it is beyond question that she and Vera Lynn rallied the people of their respective nations during World War II and made a BIG difference in the war effort. We could have used such talent in every war since. Instead, we had Mary Travers and Joan Baez (who later apologized) demoralizing our people and our nation’s efforts in Viet Nam.
Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
Kate Smith - one of my favorites and still the best “God Bless America” rendition yet....
I would votefor your choice if I had a vote.
It would be politically savvy - go for some of the youth vote!
That doesn’t go with the “Nice guy, Failed President” meme at the GOP convention.
But it would be entertaining!
My guess is his Doctor's don't want him eating big steaks with the new ticker, but my guess this speech would have red meat everywhere! LOL !!!!
Her version of Here Comes the Sun is my favorite. The song was also a hit for Charles King and Bert Lown.
Quite a few people do. One of her "greatest hits" CD's was a bestseller not long ago.
When I attended some UCLA home games a few years ago, I was astounded to hear her 1939 hit We'll Meet Again played over the PA system when games concluded. I didn't know she was a Bruin fan.
Vera Lynn turned 95 not long ago. My favorite recording by her is Calling Me Home (1936).
The last 4 of your choices are dead.
Palin is popular with some conservatives, but toxic to the nation at large.Gotta stay tight with your MSM buddies, eh Jamie?
Nothing like parroting the "JournoList" talking points to show your bona fides.
ha ha :o)
