Sad to hear it is real this time. A few years ago at the end of his 9pm-midnight show on WLW Bill Cunningham announced that The Truckin' Bozo had died and they would be playing "best of" shows. It took him the first few callers to convince listeners that he wasn't really dead.
Cunningham was always doing things like suspending him for a week for various station infractions. Odd, but those suspensions always seemed to match with when Sommers was going on vacation.

I’d heard him many times on long drives at night. The clear channel stations (not the company) are the only ones you can keep for more than 50 miles, and they’re trucker type stations usually. RIP

WLW, back during Desert Storm, he was on the air and mentioned it.
The one and only time my radio pulled in that particular station.
