"Where can I find out if something is a "law"? Supposedly, Michelle Obama made a law that all chocolate milk in the school milk cooler has to be in the back so the kids can't reach it. She doesn't want the elementary school kids to have chocolate milk, but if we sell it, then it has to be "hard for them to reach". So, little kids are crawling in to my milk cooler, hands are getting hurt, fingers are getting smooshed, etc etc and I'd like to find out if it's an actual "law" instead of just something she's "suggesting".
I'm the lunch lady at the school. Our supervisor came in and said we can't have the chocolate milk in front, it's a law from michelle Obama.
So, I'm just wondering, how do I find out if this is truly a law? I think it's stupid. The kids are all yelling - I can't reach the chocolate milk...i can't reach the chocolate milk. It's a disaster. She's hoping they'll choose the white milk."
Wooky’s law: Nothing is permitted unless it is specifically authorized. If you want to do it, you must ask permission. Your rights come from the government, and only the government, and then only the government when the Democrats are in office. All laws passed in a Republican held office are merely to be deemed uneducated suggestions and are not to be followed.
The chocolate milk must stay in the back of the bus...
Coming from dairy country, it’s a well-established fact that farmers milk the darker cows last, just to make em suffer longer. They don’t know if they’re in line to get milked or get turned into steaks and burgers. (sarc)

When I was 4 or 5, my friendly, neighbor dairy farmer told us chocolate milk came from the brown cows. Even at that age, I wasn’t that ignorant. Kids are going to see this for what it is- being manipulated. They may not have the words to articulate it, but they’ll know. I’ve got a drawer full of candy that is so old it should be pitched, a bag of potato chips that I think have been opened for at least 3 months, old crackers galore, orange soda, cola that must be at least a year old...! Basic psychology- if you’re told you can’t have something, you want it all the more. My 17 year old is skinny as a rail and her favorite foods are beef and pork. I learned in nutrition class that studies showed in the long term, if the junk food isn’t denied, they’ll actually naturally eat a healthy diet. Sorry I can’t site the studies as they were back in about the ‘70s. Junk food has alway been available for my daughter but her first choice- very rare beef.
“Isnt it racist to make the chocolate milk sit in the rear of the milk cooler?”
This was so good, I had to repeat it.
WIN!
0bama is bad enough, but when I think about Bertha Butt... I just can’t stand it.
Maybe somebody could lasso her & haul her off. Just until January when it’s time for them to go.
Search "performance awards" and see the money States get if they...
(II) make performance awards to not more than 15 States that demonstrate, as determined by the Secretary
(bb) substantial improvement.
And then eveeeeeeentually you get this...
SEC. 244. RESEARCH ON STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE THE SELECTION AND CONSUMPTION OF HEALTHY FOODS.
(a) IN GENERAL.The Secretary, in consultation with the Secretary of Health and Human Services, shall establish a research, demonstration, and technical assistance program to promote healthy eating and reduce the prevalence of obesity, among all population groups but especially among children, by applying the principles and insights of behavioral economics research in schools, child care programs, and other settings.
(b) PRIORITIES.The Secretary shall
(2) demonstrate and rigorously evaluate behavioral economics-related interventions that hold promise to improve diets and promote health, including through demonstration projects that may include evaluation of the use of portion size, labeling, convenience, and other strategies to encourage healthy choices; and
(3) encourage adoption of the most effective strategies through outreach and technical assistance.
It's not "the law", but if you want the money follow the "effective strategies" and hide the milk.
I agree with you on that.

“The second phase will be the banning of carry in salt.”
Just remember that if salt is outlawed, only outlaws will have salt!
Snip...Milk Placement Move the white milk in front of the chocolate.
Model for Improvement - Testing Interventions
Made skim milk the default choice by locating skim milk in front of the cooler, and placing chocolate milk in the back
Data not available. Placement of skim and chocolate milk was tested in April, and the final data were collected in March. Data were not collected on a weekly or monthly basis.
Amazing the amount of psychobabble in these things.
They’re morons. The smart way to address this is to essentially have a Willy Wonka buffet. After about a week the kids would be choosing pot roast, salad and a fruit. My nutrition instructor was right and I have 2 candy drawers to prove it.
Some people I know can eat practically unlimited amounts, do very little activity and not gain a millimeter of fat. Other people with very slow metabolisms (like me) can't eat any junk at all and need to sweat every day if they intend to be fit.
If your kid is staying at a healthy weight, let them eat whatever they want. But if your kid starts ballooning like I did, it's wise to start watching out for them. Nomatter what BS anyone says, it greatly diminishes your social life and general well being. Obesity during puberty also causes hormone imbalances that could result in development issues in nearly every part of the body, especially in boys. After puberty, there is not much that can be done to correct it.
I really really wish my parents taught me better eating and exercise habits when I was younger. I'll naturally never be as developed and fit as I could have been.
THERE IT IS....BEHAVIORAL ECONOMICS....they are manipulilating our children’s behavior instead of feeding them. Oh how I long for the 50s & 60s!
“I was never denied any foods as a kid and became a junk food addict for a long time.”
There is a basic, psychological principle that is even described in the bible. If a person is told they can’t have something, they want it all the more. I don’t know what your issues were. I spent years wondering how so many, very wealthy, young women were so skinny. I had the revelation that it was because they could have/eat whatever they want, just as the scientific studies showed about children essentially getting bored with junk food and choosing nutritious food instead. It’s about options. I cook healthy meals, the aroma’s are in the house, and that wins out over the junk. I don’t make an issue out of food. I cook. If someone wants to eat it that’s fine. If more family is around and we make it a social event, that’s ok, too. Food isn’t the center of our lives. Making such a huge issue over food and nutrition is one of the things that creates problems in the first place.
“Theyre morons.
No they aren’t. Read down a bit
They’re manipulative )@(!”
I realize they’re manipulative, but they’re morons in achieving the goal they want. They’re trying to reinvent the wheel when centuries of basic psychology is being thrown out the window.
As a parent, here’s some perspective that other parents might relate to:
“You aren’t leaving the table till you finish evey bit of xxxx!”
“No, you can’t have any of this. It’s for company (or school/church/holiday event, ect.”
Which food item is the kid going to be crazy to want to eat? Psych 101. Duh.
Two things not being mentioned: chocolate has caffeine, and the chocolate milk is made from the white milk of the day before. Not to even mention the fact that not everything has to be sweet.
Of course I think Moosh should keep her fingers out of it, but how about trying education instead of manipulation? How insulting to our kids!
