The Florida hideout where Depression-era gangster Ma Barker was killed in a hail of FBI bullets has hit the market for $1 million.

The lakefront Ocklawaha home was the site of one of the biggest shootouts in FBI history - and still has the bullet holes to prove it.

On Jan. 16, 1935, G-men took out Kate "Ma" Barker and one of her thug sons in a bloody, four-hour raid.

Barker, 61, branded America's Public Enemy No. 1, ran the notorious Barker-Karpis gang, wanted for a four-year string of murders, robberies, kidnapping and other crimes across the South and Midwest.

Agents found her dead in a second-floor bedroom, still clutching her Thompson machine gun, according to local lore.

I remember when Ma Barker was killed. Same year that Will Rogers and Wiley Post died.

I bet its haunted up the Yazoo. Great place for a Haunted BXB a lot of folks would pay big bucks to spend a weekend there and get frightened big time. I wonder if there is a lost treasure there? Might take a little fixing but the history alone is worth saving!

I saw an ad for a night at the Trans-Allegheny Asylum in W. Virginia (not a long drive from my house). I was all excited until I saw the price tag—almost $200. I settled for a book by the woman who is leading the tour instead (plus she is speaking at the library next month, and that’s free).

Going on a ghost hunt is on my bucket list.
