A car accident was the reason for a power outage in Springfield's Pine Point neighborhood this afternoon.
Springfield Police Lieutenant John Bobianski told 22News an SUV crashed into a utility pole at Bay and Haskins Streets around 3:30.
Power was knocked out in the surrounding neighborhood.
22News was there as WMECO crews worked to restore that power and clean up the downed wires.
A passenger in that SUV was taken to Baystate Medical Center with a head injury.
No charges were filed.

No . . . the utility pole jumped right in front of the SUV.
It is time for we americans to re-examine our rights with respect to the citizens personal right to own a private vehicle. /s
You let one SUV get away with killing a utility pole and the next thing you know, they’re inside a crowded theater chasing after and running down innocent women and children.
So Matt, were you affected by this power outage in Pine Point?
Of course not. SUVs are well known to take control and do whatever they want. This was a suicide attempt by the SUV due to guilt over having such low mileage. The human was not at fault other than choosing to buy an SUV, but that is not a traffic offense. /s
Eye witness accounts claim the SUV was having road rage (as usual!) and smashed into the utility pole purposfully! It’s attempted murder.
Liberals need to get a gun to execute the SUV.
I think the utility pole is trying to pull work a phony lawsuit, looking to garner a big cash settlement. I hear the pole has retained an expert slip ‘n fall lawyer.
No. Just saw the headline.
Hahahaha. This is why I love FR.
The attorney representing the SUV is claiming poverty. The utility pole’s case is SOL. However, liberals are working on the gun as we speak, to convience it to snuff out the SUV!
They don’t care about justice. They trick the guns into murdering the SUV’s every time. :(
