A large percentage of the climbing community brings dogs with them. It is not uncommon.”

There is special gear, like booties, for dogs who go climbing with their owners. This dog had none.
Why didn’t he do what the strangers did to get the dog down if he loved it so much?
There’s no way in hell I would have done this to my dog.

I don’t care how many times he said he took the dog with him in the past. The guy deserves to be charged with animal cruelty and lose his dog to someone who will take better care.

I think you are also uninformed. Dogs are making these climbs every day without booties. You also didn’t read his post.

He’s suddenly, globally infamous and realizes his ass is in a sling.

So, after doing nothing useful for all that time, he pens a sad fairy tale.

Yeah.

We’re stupid enough to buy it.

I agree. This guy said the dog passed 6 times. Why didn’t he take the necessary precautions to make sure the dog was safe. I would think at least once he was informed of some kind of precaution. When I take my dogs into a show ring they have the necessary equipment. This is the owners fault. He can scream all he wants with all the excuses he wants; but he was clearly not responsible with Missy.

Give her to the people who not only rescued her but show responsibility toward her.

Also, even if we don’t win, they have handlers who know what they are doing taking the necessary steps to make it safe for the dog.

Yes they make very good foot gear for dogs with traction soles just like human climbing boots. My dog has them because the first time we went camping he cut up his paws bouldering with me. They cost about $40 and he has been using them for 4 years. If we are hiking he wears his booties.

We also have a harness for him if we have to use ropes.

We’ve turned back a few times when we decided the trail was too difficult to manage with the dog. I think this guy should have turned back long before he did in addition to the fact that he was not properly equipped.
