Tippi Hedren: ‘Hitchcock Was a Dangerous Deviant’
Hitchcock ^

Posted on 08/16/2012 10:41:16 AM PDT by nickcarraway

Actress Tippi Hedren has exposed her “The Birds” and “Marnie” director Alfred Hitchcock as a “dangerous deviant” who “ruined” her career in a shocking new HBO panel discussion held to promote upcoming biopic “The Girl.”

The actress, who is portrayed by Sienna Miller in the new film, held nothing back as she recalled the time she spent with the movie mogul behind some of Hollywood’s top thrillers.

Hedren told film executives and fans, “We are dealing with a brain here that was an unusual genius, and evil, and deviant, almost to the point of dangerous, because of the effect that he could have on people that were totally unsuspecting.”

“The Girl” supports Hedren’s claims that Hitchcock attempted to steal a kiss from his leading lady on the set of “The Birds,” and then put her in harm’s way by insisting she work with live birds for several days.

The actress said, “He ruined my career but he didn’t ruin my life. If this had happened today I would be a very rich woman.”

I may have overstated. Let me correct myself to say he was one of the best directors ever.

Stanley Kubrick is my # 1

He threw live birds at her for 3 days to film the attic scene. She had a nervous breakdown. He made her film anyway. That completely zoned out thing she did at the end of the movie, that wasn’t acting, that’s what was left of her sanity

I heard he had her down a silver mine and tried to drown her.

Someone photo shopped him wearing a wedding veil and taking the place of the gremlin when Shatner pulled back the curtain. Hilarious.

I have been searching for that photo also. It was a real hoot.

I read years ago that Otto Preminger used the casting couch on several film projects.

Storyboarding was where Hitchcock "made" his movies. He found filming a chore as the technical aspects had already been worked out. There was nothing to do but shoot it.

I thought Alva was on set to keep him from making a fool of himself with all those ice cold blondes he cast in his movies.

The stuff about Hitchcock is not new by decades. It’s my understanding he would pose an actress for a scene and then stand there and whisper dirty things in her ear. His voyeurism and some other sexual obsessions are on display in his films.

I always liked him on tv and love his films.

There ya go.

I haven’t seen enough of Kubricks stuff to really rate him, but for sure, he is an excellent director.

And I am in no way trying to take away from Mr. Hitchcock. He continually delivered top quality, suspenseful stuff that would make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
It’s just that in my world, it seems kind of formula.

A category like “best director” gets very influenced by personal taste, stylistic ideas, etc. I very much like Coppola but way more for his non-Godfather stuff like Dementia 13 (which is kind of hammy and campy but you can see what he’s capable of) and Rumblefish (I consider this a GREAT film!!!)

The Intruder, 1962, was a good film that he was the lead in.

Here is his entire list. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000638/filmoyear

I wouldn't be surprised about Travolta. OTOH, didn't he have a thing going with an older woman that passed away relatively young?

That couldn't have helped.

Hitchcock never lived in Los Angeles, he lived in Northern California. Sorry.

It's kind of funny because the agent was also the first to represent (and name) Rock Hudson, and had to teach Hudson how not to be so effeminate in order to get past the first line of studio talent screeners.

Q: What was the cause of Rock Hudson's death?
A: Germs of enrearment.

Women were terribly abused back then by powerful, sadistic perverts. Now boy actors are.

“Come on, we all know women were forced to submit to casting couch stuff to get roles back then.”

Rumor has it John Travolta knows exactly of what you speak, and no the Movie exec. wasn’t a Women.
