My (conservative) husband is driving me nuts... he's convinced that Romney/Ryan have maybe a 30% chance to win the election. He cites InTrade predictions, etc. Although he likes Ryan, he's certain that Obama will win in November anyway.
I'm not as pessimistic... right now I see the race as 50-50. It can go either way. Too early to predict, IMO...
Some moderate Republican friends/family members of ours (ugh, yeah, I know) like Ryan but thinks he's the wrong pick to win vs. Obama/Biden. They are certain the Obama Attack Machine will successfully spew their lies, and Florida (in particular) and other swing states like WI, IA, PA, etc. will go to Obama - because "seniors will be scared" that Romney/Ryan will negatively affect their financial well-being.
To that I say: Good grief... what don't seniors (or anyone) understand when they hear: "If you're 55 or older, you won't be affected at all."
What say you, FReepers?
InTrade is nothing more than a betting pool. Gambling, if you will.
The Battleground poll, conducted by Celinda Lake, the dem, and Ed Goeas, the rep, is one of the only two LIKELY voter polls I’ve seen. Despite the summer assault on Romney, it has them in a dead heat. This was conducted before the Ryan pick for VP.

Rasmussen, the other likely voter poll, has Romney up.
Seniors know and LIKE Ryan a great deal. In fact, no other age group knows Ryan and his plan as well as seniors do.
Even though, in this household, there is only one “senior”, we both agree.

Please give your Eeyore husband a thump on the head for me. ;o)
So a) Intrade was BADLY off on the Obamacare USSC decision, and b) Romney gained 5points on Intrade Fter the Ryan pick.
It’s a long time to November. The international scene is very dangerous. The Ryan pick requires a discussion of Zero’s record and his future plans to spend even more money.
Be of good heart and continue the fight.
Two years ago we reached the point where more people are dependent upon or, work for the government than those who subsist in the private sector or make their living on their own.
It seems that a majority of Americans do not understand or care about the budget. The idea of leaving debt to the next generation doesn't really resonate with folks still working. Nor does it really hit home with the younger folks who will inherit the burden.
The financial collapse that seems inevitable will be a calamity with repercussions that no one can predict. It could come to pass that we will all have to make radical changes and learn to fend for ourselves. The guy I know who has developed a large garden, an orchard, a self generated cold storage room in his shop and has almost three years of dried and canned food doesn't seem so paranoid to me now. Neither does the fenced perimeter and extensive armament he has built to protect it all.
My guess is that a big collapse will not seriously affect baby boomers. But it will make our country vulnerable to a real take over by other powers and our children (maybe) and grand children (for sure) will not live in the same country we have been lucky enough to enjoy. Shame on us for not working harder to protect it.
Seniors don’t like Obamacare.
