I don't feel like talking about Chairman Obama's plots, Nazi Pelosi's plastic surgery mistakes, Harry Reid's dementia, or the fact that we're on the edge of total economic, social, and political disaster. (In other words, let's pretend Ronald Reagan is still president, at least for this thread.)
Anyhoo, let's let our hair down! Let's chit-chat about music. So tell me, FRiends, what are your favorite types of music, your favorite songs, or favorite songs ?
My favorite song is BY THE LIGHT OF THE SILVERY MOON, from 1909, written by NEWYORKCITYGOPMAN’s great uncle.
Anything except country, opera or rap/hip-hop.
A fun ping!
I’m a guitarist/steel guitarist, so I like guitar music. Danny Gatton, The Hellecasters, Ry Cooder, Lloyd Green & John Hughey. But, having said that,,,,,, I LOVE piano Boogie Woogie! Albert Ammons is my favorite musician ever!
Classical:
Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Debussy, Ravel, Stravinsky, Brahms, Copland, Bach...and on and on..
then I do like early 60s and 70s (all Motown) and classic rock: Byrds, Genesis, YES, Buffallo Springfield, Mountain, CSN, James Taylor and on and on..
Some Irish music is enjoyed... some folk, some folk rock, singer songwriters like Elton John...
Primarily country, but I am all over the board except I loath rap and heavy metal.
I go to sleep listening to classical - every night.
I REALLY like blues (Johnny Winter, Muddy Waters, other
people that play a lot of ‘bottleneck’ and slide).
I am listening to *recent* Buckethead right now (post-punk years), and do listen to a bit of jazz as well, but only
modern jazz.
I own 3 banjos and two guitars, and I am a real boring
person, so music is more of an outlet.
Classical: Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov
Classic Rock: Van Morrisson
Straight Ahead Rock: The Stones
Religious: The Liturgy of St. John Chrisostym by Rachmaninoff
Anything by Beethoven
The Beatles
Mozart’s Piano Sonatas
Entrance of the Knights by Prokofiev
Bach’s Adagios (ALL of ‘em!)
Steely Dan
Led Zeppelin
Hector Berlioz
Chopin Nocturnes
For starters. LOL.
I like Jamey Johnson’s In Color - he is old style Country singer

Favorite band right now is an alt-country band from Charlottesville, VA called Sons of Bill. Really good songwriting on their latest record called “Sirens”. Will likely go see them in Athens, GA. at the 40 Watt in late August.
And what about your favorite, since several of us have told
you our most secret of secrets.
My favorite type of music is punk rock. (Nope. Never grew up.) My favorite song of all time is “California Uber Alles” by the Dead Kennedys. I also like some hip-hop, mostly Cypress Hill. I also like some classic rock, like “Shattered” by the Rolling Stones, “1979” by the Smashing Pumpkins, and “The Wall” by Pink Floyd.
Needless to say, when I’m in the car with Mrs. Absolutely Nobama, I’m not allowed to even look at the radio, let alone play music. I am fully aware that I have no taste in music whatsoever. :)
Oh...Blues and Motown too!
I espcially like playing both on the Bass.
Not a country fan, either. Opera.....no.
When I was a kid, I always wanted to play bass guitar like Sid Vicious or East Bay Ray of the Dead Kennedys. I never learned and I regret it now.
I still wanna be Sid Vicious (minus the heroin addiction, of course)! Being an adult in the real world sucks!
:)

I’m with you. I like western music.
Tchaikovsky Overture 1812 -—The only thing the Russians got right!
