Someone took a large knife to my front passenger tire overnight. My car is parked right off the street. I have several political bumper stickers: a pink elephant, George Washington with a teardrop running down his cheek. Sarah Palin in revolutionary garb. One that says "Our founding fathers would be shooting by now," to name a few. I live in a very liberal area in Montgomery County, outside Philadelphia.
My husband's ticked. We called the policed who'll file a report. Hubby wants me to remove the stickers but I'll be damned if I'm cowing to anyone, especially "tolerant" liberals. If it happens again, I'm not sure what I'll do.

Well, if you were in Texas I could tell you what to do...
....make a deal with the tire salesman, you might buy two ...or three more
Surveillance camera might prove helpful. Not to mention fun.
Don’t you know? Freedom of speech is reserved only for those who are “correct” in their views...
Too bad you don’t have a motion sensor that triggers the hard-to-ignore sound of a shotgun being racked.
You could get a motion activated security camera before it happens again. And make sure your parking space is well lighted.
Well, unless you catch them in the act, there isn’t much you can do.
As sad as it is, it reminds me of an old saying:
“Don’t go looking for trouble, it will find you soon enough”.
If you’re going to do something as inane as littering your vehicle with political stances at least park it in the light with a video camera trained upon it so we can catch the perps.
Motion sensor lighting tends to scare off criminals. Most of them are gutless cowards and will not bother well lit areas.
$200 or so at TigerDirect.
Total misapplication of the notion of “freedom of speech”.
I’ll look into a camera. I might be better off parking on the main road. It’s better lit and has more traffic. Plus my bedroom window looks right out on it.
Sorry about your car but putting “offending” stickers on it, be it political or a sports team or that your kid made the honor roll, is asking for it from cretins. However, any car with nothing on it parked in that particular spot at that particular time is enough to set off some thugs. Mine was broken into once because it was the model they were looking for and because I’d made it easy on them by parking at the end of a row and under a light which police tell you is the safest place.
Blame the victim?
My older brother had a battery stolen from his car which was in the car port.
He noticed some teenagers working on an old car down the street and had a suspicion. He walked up to them, and began a conversation. He looked and sure enough there was his battery.
He called the cops, they arrested them and to his surprise, the judge gave them a stiff sentence including jail time.
What I am saying is try to figure out for yourself who did it. You may never find out but having a video camera record the area around the car for several nights might be a good idea. Also check around for any neighbors who happen to be very liberal etc.
Cabellas has game cameras that take very good pictures in low light conditions. Get two or more of them to catch comings and goings from multiple dirctions.

Freedom has a price tag. Sometimes that price tag is what you pay for in repairs.
Camouflage has strong advantages.
