Liberals define poverty in relative terms, comparing yourself to your peers. This is why the poverty of socialism doesn’t bother them because all your peers are equally poor.
I encountered this when talking about the coming financial collapse with a libinlaw. Her solace was in the fact that we’d “all be in the same boat”.
As if it were a GOOD thing.

They see wealth or poverty as being better or worse off than somebody else, rather than being well enough off to enjoy whatever necessities or luxuries one desires. The admit being motivated by pure Envy and Pride. Last time I checked, those were among the "Seven Deadly Sins".
The lib’s are seething with envy for sure. My lib brother once told me that he wouldn’t mind giving up a good portion of his own wealth, as long as most of the wealth of the rich guy living up the street was confiscated.
